초록

죽음이라는 철학적 담론을 재매개 이론으로 풀이해 보고자 한다. 죽음의 재매개를 살펴보는 중심 텍스트로는 영국 BBC와 HBO가 공동 제작한 6부작 드라마 <이어즈&이어즈>를 가져온다. <이어즈&이어즈>에서 중요하게 다뤄지는 3번의 죽음을 중심으로 죽음의 비매개와 죽음의 하이퍼매개의 표상 방식을 탐구하는 것에 목표를 둔다. 자본이 삶과 죽음을 어떠한 방식으로 매개해 나가며 죽음을 비매개 시키는지 그리고 과학기술을 통한 하이퍼매개적 죽음이 어떻게 다층적으로 표현될 수 있는지를 살펴본다. 이를 통해 재매개된 죽음과 삶의 이면에 숨겨진 것들, 죽음과 삶의 순수성, 숨겨진 순수성의 공감과 관련해 질문을 던진다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study is to interpret the philosophical discourse of death as the remediation theory. Death in modern society is immediated by remediating with capital. Death and capital have been remediated, but capital erases the process of mediation, conceals the mediated traces, and makes us believe that the remediated reality itself. Furthermore, the future death what posthuman will see is remediated and hypermediated with scientific technology. The central text to examine the remediaion of death is the six-part drama Years and Years, co-produced by the BBC and HBO in the UK. The goal is to explore the representation methods of immediacy of death and hypermediacy of death, focusing on the three deaths that are important in Years and Years. This study look at how capital mediates life and death and how hypermediated death through scientific technology can be expressed in multiple layers. When an extraordinary and brilliant prospect of posthuman life is poured out, the question of posthuman death is a fundamental question that in the end, life must be reflected through the consensus of death. In order to create a true evolution as a post‘human’, we must ask question while carefully examining death and life. What is the purity of death and life, what kind of death and life are hidden behind the remediated death and life, and whether we can sympathize with that hidden death and life. In a question without a correct answer, the question becomes a clue.
