중등 예비교사 대상 융복합 교육 프로그램의 개발과 적용:국어, 수학, 과학 전공자의 협력을 중심으로 (The Development and Implementation of Interdisciplinary Education Program for Secondary Pre-Service Teachers : Focusing on the Cooperation of Majors in Korean, Mathematics, and Science)

초록

최근 한국 중등 교육과정 혁신의 핵심 이슈 중 하나는 융복합 교육으로, 융복합 교육 역량을 가진 교사 전문성 발달이 중요한 요소로 부각되고 있다. 그러나 현재 교사 양성기관의 융복합 교육을 위한 교육과정이나 프로그램은 미비한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 한 사범대학이 교육과정 개선의 일환으로 융복합 교육 프로그램을 개발, 적용한 뒤 프로그램을 보완해 나가는 사례를 제시하였다. 본 연구의 융복합 교육 프로그램은 사범대학 교육과정 혁신을 지원하는 사업을 토대로 하여 국어, 수학, 물리, 화학 전공 교수의 협력, 단과대학 및 대학 본부 차원의 적극적 행정 지원에 힘입어 4인 교수의 공통 개설 강좌인 ‘(교과) 교재 연구 및 지도법’에 4차시용 융복합 교육 모듈을 삽입한 것으로, 프로그램 운영 시 교육 현장에서 융복합 교육을 실천하고 있는 교사들의 목소리가 연계되도록 한 특징이 있다. 이 융복합 교육 프로그램은 ‘①융복합 교육의 의미와 유형에 대한 이론 강의, ②예비교사들의 융복합 수업 설계와 ③시연 및 ④반성’의 과정으로 구성되었고, 2017년 2학기에 102명의 예비교사에게 적용되었다. 융복합 교육 프로그램 운영 전후에는 예비교사들의 융복합 교육에 대한 이해와 실행에 도움이 되는지 확인하기 위해서 설문을 실시하였다. 설문 결과, 예비교사들은 융복합 수업의 의미와 필요성, 융복합 수업 설계에 대한 자신감, 타교과 교사와의 협력, 수업에 대한 비판적 성찰 측면에서 유의미한 향상을 보였다. 또한 본 연구에서는 프로그램 운영 과정 시 교수들이 수업일지를 작성하고, 프로그램에 대한 현장 교사들의 평가회도 실시하여 보완점을 추출하고 프로그램 개선을 제안하였다(이후 2018년 2학기 운영 예정). 이 연구는 향후 융복합 교육을 위한 교사 양성기관의 교육과정 개선 및 현직 교사 대상 연수 프로그램 개발에 시사점을 줄 것이다.

영어초록

One of the key issues of secondary school curriculum innovation in Korea is interdisciplinary education and therefore in turn the development of teachers’expertise with interdisciplinary education is also becoming an important factor. That said, curriculum or programs for interdisciplinary education of the teacher education are insufficient. This study explained the case of a college of education which has developed and implemented an interdisciplinary education program as a part of it innovating its curriculum, and suggested a revised version of the program. The project to support innovation of curriculum at the college of education was used as the basis for carrying out the interdisciplinary education program in this. In addition, the implementation of the program was made thanks to the cooperation among professors of Korean language, mathematics, physics, and chemistry as well as the prompt administrative support from the college and the university headquarter. The program consisted of four sessions and it was inserted into a lecture‘Instructional Materials & Teaching Methods’which were commonly taught by four professors in their major. During the program school teachers who are actually practicing interdisciplinary teaching were involved in order to provide feedback on pre-service teachers’lesson plans and teaching practice. The program consisted of one session of lecturing on‘the meaning and types of interdisciplinary teaching’, two sessions on student teachers’planning & implementing interdisciplinary teaching, and one session on sharing and assessing the practices. The program was rolled out to 102 pre-service teachers in the autumn term of 2017. In order to measure the effectiveness of this program, the study conducted a survey before and after its implementation. The statistical results of the survey showed that the pre-service teachers improved both in their confidence in planning interdisciplinary lessons and in their cooperation with peers from different academic backgrounds. Also improved was their understanding of the meaning and need for interdisciplinary teaching.
In this study, the professors wrote a class diary during the program sessions to reflect pre-service teachers’feedback. The study also had a meeting with the mentor teachers to evaluate the program. Based on this feedback and evaluation, this study suggested a revised program that will be implemented this autumn term, 2018. This study will include the implications to curriculum innovation of other colleges of education as well as the development of an interdisciplinary teaching program for in-service teachers.
