· 연구 주제: 본 논문은 외국 대학과의 학점교류를 위한 파견인원과 유치인원이 과연 우리나라 대학들의 재학생 충원율에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는지에 대하여 연구한다. 특히, 수도권 대학과 비수도권 대학에 따라 이러한 영향관계에 유의한 차이가 있는지에 대하여 규명한다.
· 연구 배경: 대학 간 국제적 협력이 필수요소로 인식되는 가운데, 외국 대학과의 학점교류 프로그램은 대학의 국제화와 경쟁력 향상의 핵심 수단이 되고 있다. 특히 수도권과 비수도권 대학 간 경쟁 심화로 인해 학점교류 프로그램이 재학생 충원율에 미치는 영향 분석이 중요해지고 있다.
· 선행연구와의 차이점: 본 연구의 차별성은 첫째, 기존 연구들이 대학의 규모, 전임교원 확보율 등 개별 요소에 집중한 반면, 본 연구는 수도권과 비수도권 대학의 차별화된 맥락을 고려하여 충원율 영향을 비교 분석했다. 둘째, 국제 학점교류 프로그램이 실제 재학생 충원율에 미치는 영향을 실증적으로 검토함으로써, 프로그램의 효과성을 정량적으로 규명하고자 했다.
· 연구방법: 본 연구는 2017년부터 2022년까지의 대학알리미 데이터를 활용하여 총 952개의 표본을 수집하였다. 재학생 충원율을 종속변수로, 외국대학 학점교류 파견인원 및 유치인원을 독립변수로 설정하였으며, 대학의 수도권 위치 여부를 조절변수로 하는 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 통계분석은 SAS 9.4를 사용하여 기술통계량, Pearson 상관관계 분석 및 회귀분석을 수행하였다.
· 연구결과: 본 논문의 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 외국 대학과의 학점교류를 위한 파견인원이 증가할수록 그 대학의 충원율은 유의하게 높은 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 외국 대학과의 학점교류를 위한 유치인원이 증가할수록 그 대학의 충원율은 유의하게 높은 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 외국 대학과의 학점교류를 위한 파견인원과 대학 충원율과의 양(+)의 관계는 수도권 대학일수록 더욱 강화되는 것으로 확인되었다. 그리고 외국 대학과의 학점교류를 위한 유치인원과 대학 충원율과의 양(+)의 관계도 수도권 대학일수록 더욱 강화되는 것으로 확인되었다. 이러한 결과는 외국대학과의 학점교류 활성화가 우리나라 대학의 충원율 향상에 기여함을 의미하며, 이러한 형상은 수도권에 소재한 대학일수록 더욱 두드러진다는 것을 알 수 있다.
· 공헌점 및 기대효과: 본 연구는 학문적 측면에서 수도권과 비수도권 대학 간의 차별성을 반영한 국제 학점교류 프로그램의 효과성을 실증 분석했다는 점에서 의의가 있다. 이는 단기적으로는 대학의 재학생 충원율 개선에, 장기적으로는 국내 고등교육의 국제화 수준 제고와 글로벌 경쟁력 강화에 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

· Research topics: This paper examines whether the number of students sent abroad and received through credit exchange programs with foreign universities has a positive impact on student enrollment rates at Korean universities. In particular, it investigates whether there are significant differences in these relationships between universities in the Seoul metropolitan area and non-metropolitan areas.
· Research background: As international cooperation between universities is recognized as essential, credit exchange programs with foreign universities have become a key means of internationalization and improving competitiveness. The analysis of how credit exchange programs affect student enrollment rates has become particularly important due to intensifying competition between metropolitan and non-metropolitan universities.
· Differences from prior research: This study is distinctive in that: First, while previous studies focused on individual factors such as university size and full-time faculty retention rates, this study compared and analyzed enrollment impacts considering the differentiated contexts of metropolitan and non-metropolitan universities. Second, it aimed to quantitatively identify the effectiveness of programs by empirically examining the actual impact of international credit exchange programs on student enrollment rates.
· Research method: This study collected 952 samples using University Information Disclosure data from 2017 to 2022. Regression analysis was conducted with student enrollment rate as the dependent variable, the number of students sent to and received from foreign universities for credit exchange as independent variables, and the university's metropolitan location as a moderating variable. Statistical analysis was performed using SAS 9.4 for descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation analysis, and regression analysis.
· Research results: The study revealed two key findings. First, universities showed significantly higher enrollment rates as both the number of students sent abroad and received from foreign universities for credit exchange increased. Second, these positive relationships were notably stronger for universities in the metropolitan area compared to non-metropolitan universities. These results demonstrate that active participation in foreign credit exchange programs contributes to improved enrollment rates at Korean universities, with a more pronounced effect in metropolitan areas.
· Contribution points and expected effects: This study provides empirical evidence on the effectiveness of international credit exchange programs, particularly highlighting the differences between metropolitan and non-metropolitan universities.
