외국인지분율과 ESG정보특성의 상호작용효과가 기업의 신용평점에 미치는 영향 (An Influence of Foreign Ownership and Interaction Effect of Foreign Ownership with ESG Information Characteristics on Credit Rating)

초록

본 연구의 목적은 외국인지분율이 기업의 신용평점에 어떠한 영향을 미치고 외국인지분율과 ESG정보특성의 상호작용효과가 기업의 신용평점에 어떠한 영향이 있는지 검증하고자 한다. 본 연구에서는 ESG정보특성을 ESG등급부문, ESG환경부문, ESG사회부문, ESG지배구조부문 네 가지 특성으로 나누어 연구한다.
연구결과를 종합해보면 상관관계분석은 기업의 신용평점과 관심변수인 1) 외국인지분율 및 2) 외국인지분율과 ESG정보특성의 상호작용효과인 ① 외국인지분율과 ESG등급부문, ② 외국인지분율과 ESG환경부문, ③ 외국인지분율과 ESG사회부문, ④ 외국인지분율과 지배구조부문 모두 양(+)의 유의한 상관관계가 있다는 결과가 나타났다.
그리고 회귀분석결과를 살펴보면, 외국인지분율 및 외국인지분율과 ESG정보특성의 상호작용효과는 기업의 신용평점에 긍정적인 영향이 있음이 나타났다.
첫째, 외국인지분율의 분석은 회귀계수가 1%수준에서 양(+)의 값으로 유의하게 나타났다.
둘째, 외국인지분율과 ESG정보특성의 상호작용효과 분석은 ① 등급부문, ② 환경부문, ③ 사회부문, ④ 지배구조부문 각 특성의 4가지 회귀계수가 1% 수준에서 양(+)의 값으로 유의하게 나타났다. 이러한 분석결과는 외국인지분율 및 외국인지분율과 ESG정보특성의 상호작용효과가 높을수록 기업의 신용평점에 양(+)의 값으로 유의하게 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타내고 있다.
이러한 연구결과의 시사점은 다음과 같이 추측된다. 기업은 외국인투자자 소유지분 확보와 함께 ESG등급, ESG환경, ESG사회, ESG지배구조 등 ESG활동경영을 함으로서 상호작용효과가 있어서 기업 재무상태가 건전해지고 기업위험이 감소하므로 신용평점도 높아진다는 점을 시사한다. 따라서 신용평점의 공시정보는 자본시장에서 이해관계자들에게 유용한 정보로서 매개역할을 하고 있다고 추정된다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study is to examine how the foreign ownership ratio affects the credit rating and the interaction effect of the foreign ownership ratio and the ESG rating rating on the credit rating of a sound company. In this study, the ESG evaluation grade is divided into 4 characteristics: 1) ESG integration sector, 2) ESG environment sector, 3) ESG social sector, and 4) ESG governance sector.
Combining the research results, the correlation analysis shows credit ratings and interest variables: 1) foreign ownership ratio and ESG evaluation information integration sector, 2) foreign ownership ratio and ESG evaluation rating environmental sector, 3) foreign ownership ratio and ESG evaluation information social sector, 4) The result showed that there was a significant positive (+) correlation between the foreign ownership ratio and the ESG evaluation grade governance sector. And looking at the results of the regression analysis on the effects of independent variables on credit ratings, the four regression coefficients for each characteristic of the foreign ownership ratio and ESG rating 1) integrated sector, 2) environment sector, 3) social sector, and 4) governance sector are: It was significantly shown as a positive (+) value at the 1% level. These results show that all four ESG characteristics significantly affect the credit score of a sound company with a positive (+) value as the interaction effect between the foreign equity ratio and ESG evaluation information increases.
These research results suggest that if a company's financial condition becomes sound through ESG management activities (integration, environment, society, and governance) along with securing a foreign investor's ownership stake, the company's risk decreases and its credit score rises. . Therefore, it is presumed that the disclosure information of credit ratings plays a mediating role as useful information for foreign investors in the capital market.
