대학의 성인학습자 대상 의사소통교육 요구분석 － 성인학습자와 교수자·교육행정가를 대상으로 (Analysis of communication education needs for adult learners in universities － Targeted at university adult learners, professors, and administrators)

초록

본 연구에서는 국내 대학의 성인학습자 대상 의사소통교육에 적합한 교육 내용, 교육 방법 및 교수 전략 마련을 위한 기초 자료 확보를 위해 현재 국내 대학에 재학 중인성인학습자, 성인학습자를 대상으로 의사소통교육을 담당하는 교수자와 교육행정가를 표적대상으로 요구분석을 수행했다. 각 대학에 재학 중인 성인학습자들은 의사소통 관련 정규교과목 대한 만족도는 비교적 높게 나타났으나 성인학습자들은 학술적글쓰기 능력 외에도 발표나 직무 글쓰기, 자기표현 글쓰기 능력이 필요하다고 인식하고 있었다. 또한 글쓰기와 말하기 모두 필수과목으로 수강하기를 선호하는 경우가 많았으며 특화된 비교과 프로그램 운영이 매우 미흡하다고 느끼고 있었다. 성인학습자들의 절반은 모든 학생들에게 개방된 의사소통교육 관련 K-MOOC 공통 교과목을수강할 의향이 있었으며 의사소통교육이 K-MOOC 교과목으로 운영되는 경우 가장중요하게 다루어야 할 부분은 글쓰기 기초라고 생각하고 있었다.
의사소통교육 담당 교수자 및 교육행정가들은 대부분 각 대학에서 성인학습자에게적합한 맞춤형 커리큘럼이 개발되어야 하며 학술적 글쓰기와 함께 직무에 적용할 수있는 의사소통교육이 필요하다고 생각했다. 또한 성인학습자의 요구와 수준, 동기 등을 고려한 맞춤형 커리큘럼의 운영과 교수학습방법, 교육운영의 차별화 등이 필수적이라고 인식하고 있었다.
본 연구 결과, 국내 대학의 성인학습자 대상 의사소통교육이 해결해야 할 과제로는첫째, 학술적 의사소통능력과 직무 의사소통능력을 향상시킬 수 있는 교육과정의 개발, 둘째, 성인학습자들이 손쉽게 수강할 수 있는 의사소통 교과목(K-MOOC)의 개발, 셋째, 성인학습자에 적합한 의사소통교육 교재와 커리큘럼의 개발 및 운영, 마지막으로 의사소통교육 관련하여 학습자들이 요구하는 다양한 비교과 프로그램의 개발 및운영 등이 필요한 것으로 확인되었다.

영어초록

This study aims to secure basic data for preparing educational content, teaching methods, and teaching strategies suitable for communication education for adult learners in domestic universities. We conducted a needs analysis targeting adult learners currently enrolled in domestic universities and teachers and administrators in charge of communication education for adult learners. Adult learners attending each university showed relatively high satisfaction with regular subjects related to communication. They recognized that in addition to academic writing skills, pre sentation, job writing, and self-expression writing skills were needed. In addition, many people preferred to take both writing and speaking as compulsory subjects, and they felt that the operation of specialized non-specialized programs was very insufficient. Half of the respondents were willing to take the K-MOOC common subjects related to communication education that is open to all students, and they thought that the most important part to deal with when communication education is operated as a K-MOOC subject is the basics of writing.
Most of the professors and administrators in charge of communication educa tion thought that a customized curriculum suitable for adult learners should be developed at each university; communication education applicable for work along with academic writing is necessary. In addition, it was recognized as essential to operate a customized curriculum considering the needs, level, and motivation of adult learners and differentiate teaching and learning methods and educational operation.
The results indicate the following tasks to be solved by communication educa tion for adult learners at domestic universities. First, develop a curriculum that can improve academic communication skills and job communication skills. Second, develop communication courses (K-MOOC) that adult learners can easily take.
Third, develop and operate communication education materials and curriculum suitable for adult learners. Lastly, develop and operate various non-curricular programs required by learners.
