축구영재성 발달모형 탐색: 유소년 대표팀 선수와 지도자의 암묵지를 중심으로 (Nature of Giftedness and its Development in the Soccer: Based on Implicit Knowledge of Korean Youth National Teams’ Players and Coaches)

초록

특정 영역에서 탁월한 능력을 보이는 영재를 발굴하고, 적절한 지원을 통해 그 잠재성을 충분히 발휘하도록 돕는 것은 미래인재 양성의 주요 과제이다. 이를 위해서는 각 영역별 특성에 적합한 영재성 연구가 구체적이고 심층적으로 수행될 필요가 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 ‘축구’라는 특정 영역을 선정하고, 해당 영역에서 뛰어난 능력을 인정받은 유소년 축구대표팀 선수들과 이들에게 영향력을 미칠 수 있는 주변인으로서 지도자들을 포함하여 총 41명을 대상으로 인터뷰를 실시하였다. 이를 통해 이들이 가지고 있는 영재성에 대한 암묵지를 조사하여 축구영역의 특수성을 반영한 영재성 발달 모형을 제안하고자 하였다. 분석 결과, 축구영재성은 ‘내생적 영재성 단계’, ‘특화된 영재성 단계’, ‘자기화된 영재성 단계’로 발달하는 양상을 보였다. ‘내생적 영재성 단계’는 개인의 타고난 특성들을 스포츠분야에서 공통적으로 요구되는 일반적인 기준으로 판단하여 운동선수로서의 성장가능성을 탐색하는 단계이다. ‘특화된 영재성 단계’는 강도 높고 체계적인 훈련을 통해 축구분야의 특수성을 반영한 영재성을 계발하는 단계이다. ‘자기화된 영재성 단계’는 이전 단계를 통해 심화된 영재성을 바탕으로 자신만의 새로운 영재성을 창조하는 단계이다. 이때, ‘내생적 영재성 단계’에서 ’특화된 영재성 단계’로의 도약에는 개인 외적 요소(좋은 지도자와의 만남, 교육경험 등)가 영향을 미치고, ‘특화된 영재성 단계’에서 ‘자기화된 영재성 단계’로의 도약에는 개인 내적 요소(자기조절능력, 목표의식, 인성, 긍정성 등)가 중요한 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 또한 축구영재성은 상위 단계로 발달해가는 과정에서 신체적 요인보다는 인지적, 정의적 요인들이 점차 강조되는 양상을 나타냈다. 본 연구는 축구영재성의 특성을 영재성의 발달과 이에 영향을 미치는 요인들을 중심으로 살펴봄으로써 축구분야에 특화된 영재교육의 방향을 모색하고자 하였다는 점에서 그 의의를 갖는다.

영어초록

Discovering gifted individuals in specific areas as well as encouraging them with adequate support to help them realize and demonstrate their full potential is the major challenge in fostering the future talents. In this perspective, it is necessary to establish a correct definition of the giftedness when considering diverse domains. In this study, the selected area of ‘Soccer’ was investigated using interview data with a total of 41 people including Korean Youth National Teams’ youth soccer players identified as gifted and team coaches who were strongly subject to influence the players. A model of giftedness development with regard to the domain of ‘Soccer’ was proposed through the analysis of tacit knowledge in terms of the conception of giftedness. The results suggest that the soccer giftedness could be developed through 3-stage processes: endowed giftedness, specialized giftedness, and personalized giftedness. The first stage, endowed giftedness, refers to a phase in which an individual is entering a soccer domain with a growth potential. In this stage, the innate excellence was proved to be the key factor to determine whether an individual is gifted or not. The second stage, specialized giftedness encourages individuals to acquire specific competencies through an intense and systematic training while emphasizing both techniques that reflect the uniqueness of soccer and relationship skills for team cooperation. Personalized giftedness is the last stage in which ultimate giftedness is demonstrated with his/her own creation of personalized excellence. When jumping from the 1st stage to the 2nd stage, individual’s external variables (i.e., a good leader or educational experiences) should affect the flow of development, whereas individual’s internal variables (i.e., thorough self-management, positive beliefs, or a strong spirit) were ascertained to affect the jumping the 2nd stage into the 3rd stage. This study has important implications for having tried to understand the nature of giftedness in the soccer through the development of giftedness and the factors affecting it as well as to seek for specific solutions in gifted education.
