웹 접근성 기반의 웹사이트 설계 및 구현 - 티캐스트 통합 웹사이트를 중심으로 - (Web Accessibility-based Website Design and Realization - With focus on T-Cast-Integrated Website -)

초록

웹사이트에 대한 사용성과 접근성은 사용자 중심의사회, 문화적 환경의 변화로 더욱 중요시 되었으며, 이를 향상시키기 위한 방안으로써 웹 표준 준수의 문제가 대두되기에 이르렀다. 웹사이트의 인터페이스는 사용자가 시스템에 접할 수 있는 매개체로서 반드시 고려하고 평가되어야 하는 구성 요소이다. 이에 공공기관 및 일반기업 웹사이트의 웹 접근성 준수가 2008년4월 법제화 되면서 웹 표준과 웹 접근성 준수 프로젝트가 지속적으로 수행 될 것으로 예상되는 상황이다.1)하지만 대부분의 웹사이트는 노약자 및 장애인들의편의성이나 신체적, 정신적 환경을 고려하지 않고 운영되고 있으며, 이는 곧 정보 소외 현상으로 이어지고있다.
이에 본 연구는 국내 케이블 방송 채널 사업자인 티캐스트의 웹 접근성 기반의 통합 웹사이트 설계 및 구축 프로젝트를 통하여 국내 웹 접근성의 현황 및 문제점을 파악하고 개선점을 제시하고자 하였다. 또한 웹사이트 개발 방법론에서 웹 접근성을 적용할 수 있는개발 표준안 및 인터페이스 가이드라인을 제시함으로써 향후 웹 접근성 기반의 웹사이트를 쉽고 효율적으로 개발할 수 있도록 방향을 제시하고자 하였다.
본 연구를 위하여 문헌 및 선행연구를 바탕으로 웹접근성의 개념과 중요성, 그리고 웹 접근성 지침의 세부 항목과 웹 접근성 평가항목에 대하여 파악하였다.
또한 웹 접근성 기반의 웹사이트 개발에 적용할 수있는 업무별 역할 및 인터페이스 가이드라인과 개발표준안을 제시하였으며 제시된 개발 방법론과 가이드라인을 이용하여 웹 접근성에 기반한 통합 웹사이트를구축하였다. 구축된 웹사이트는 웹 접근성 자동 프로그램 점검 및 두 차례의 전문가 평가를 통하여 도출된문제점들을 수정, 보안하였으며 웹 접근성 기반의 개발 방법론과 가이드라인의 실효성을 웹 접근성 평가를통하여 검증하도록 하였다.
본 연구를 통해서 모든 웹 콘텐츠에 누구도 소외되지 않는 환경에서 모든 사용자들에게 동등한 웹 정보시스템으로의 접근 기회는 물론 최적의 사용자 서비스를 경험하도록 하였으며, 웹사이트를 개발하는 실무자들에게는 웹 접근성이 적용된 개발 방법론과 가이드라인을 통하여 보다 쉽고 효율적으로 웹 접근성 기반의웹사이트를 개발 할 수 있도록 하였다.

영어초록

The usability and accessibility for web sitebecame important factors due to the change ofuser-centered social and cultural environment and asa measures to improve this, the issue to complywith web standards has come to the fore. Theinterface of web site is the component which shouldbe considered and evaluated as a medium thatenables user to access to the system. So, since webaccessibility compliance of web sites of publicinstitutions or general enterprises was legalized inApril 2008, it is expected that the project to complywith web standards and web accessibility shall beconducted continuously. However, most of websitesare operated without considering the convenience ofthe elderly, infirm and disabled as well as physicaland mental environment which leads to theinformation alienation phenomena.
Accordingly, this study intends to identify thestatus of domestic web accessibility and problemsthrough the integrated website design which isbased on web accessibility and setup project ofT-Cast, a domestic cable broadcasting channelprovider and suggest the improvements. In addition,by suggesting the development standards andinterface guideline which can be applied to the webaccessibility in the website developmentmethodology, this study intends to suggest thedirection to develop the web accessibility based websites in the future.
For this study, based on the references andprevious studies, we identified the concept of webaccessibility and its importance and the detaileditems of web accessibility guideline and theevaluation items of web accessibility.
In addition, we suggested the role of job, interfaceguideline and development standards which can beapplied to the development of website based on webaccessibility and established the integrated websitesbased on web accessibility using the suggesteddevelopment methodology and guideline. Theestablished website modified and supplemented theproblems derived through web accessibilityautomatic program checking and professionalevaluation two times and the validity of developmentmethodology and guideline which is based on webaccessibility was verified through web accessibilityevaluation.
This study allows all users to have accessopportunity to the web information system equallyas well as experience the optimal user service in theenvironment where every one is accepted for theapplication of all web contents, and allows the website developers to develop the web accessibilitybased web site easily and efficiently through thedevelopment methodology and guideline that the webaccessibility is applied.
