대학부설 과학영재교육원의 운영 현황 분석 및 시사점 도출 (Analysis on Current Status and Implication of the Science Education Center for Gifted Affiliated with University)

초록

본 연구의 목적은 대학부설 과학영재교육원의 현황을 분석하고 관련 쟁점의 논의를 통해 영재원의 발전방향을 모색하는 것이다. 이를 위해서 영재원의 교육목표 및 운영, 선발, 교육과정 및 교육프로그램, 질관리 등의 4개 영역에 대해 분석하였다. 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 영재원의 교육목표에서 과학, 영재 등에 가장 인접한 단어는 탐구, 지역 등으로 영재원 교육이 탐구 중심의 지역인재 양성과 관련되어 있음을 알 수 있다. 둘째, 선발 과정에 대해 살펴보면, 심화과정에서는 교사추천서와 자기소개서를 1차 심사에서 가장 많이 활용하였고, 창의적 문제해결력 검사를 2차 심사에서 가장 많이 활용하고 있다. 사사과정에서는 재원생 진급 평가에 영재원 교육의 이수과정(출석, 평가결과)과 학업계획서를 많이 활용하고 있다. 셋째, 영재원 교육과정은 특정 영역에 편중되어 구성된 경향이 강했고, 영재원에서 개발된 프로그램은 교사용 자료가 부족하였다. 넷째, 영재원의 질관리를 위한 연차평가 지표는 보고서 기반의 결과 중심의 평가로 영재원 교육의 질향상에 기여도가 낮았다. 이상의 연구 결과를 바탕으로, 블렌디드 교육을 포함한 영재원 교육 운영의 유연화, 관찰 추천 개선과 무학년제 시스템, 교육 프로그램 틀의 표준화, 질관리에서의 과정 평가 및 평가방식의 개선 등에 대한 시사점을 논의하였다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study is to analyze the current status of the science education center for gifted affiliated with university and to examine the development direction of the gifted center through discussion on related issues. For this purpose, four areas such as educational goals and operation, selection, curriculum and education programs, and quality management were analyzed. The analysis results are as follows. First, the words closest to science and gifted in the educational goals of gifted center are inquiry, region, etc., suggesting that gifted education in gifted center is related to inquiry-centered nurturing of local talent. Second, for the selection process, in the intensive course, teacher recommendations and self-introduction letters were most used in the first screening, and the creative problem-solving ability test was used the most in the second screening. In the mentorship course, the completion process (attendance and evaluation results) of gifted center and the study plan are widely used to evaluate the promotion of current students. Third, the curriculum for the gifted centers tended to be structured in a specific area, and the programs developed at the gifted center lacked data for teachers. Fourth, the annual evaluation index for quality management of gifted center was a report-based, result-oriented evaluation, and had a low contribution to improving the quality of education for gifted center. Based on the above research results, the implications for flexibility in the operation of education for gifted center including blended learning, improvement of observation recommendation and no-grade system, standardization of educational program framework, and improvement of evaluation process and evaluation methods in quality control were discussed.
