2007년 개정 유치원 교육과정의반영 정도에 대한 유치원 교사의 인식 (Kindergarten teachers’ perceptions of the 2007 National Kindergarten curriculum regarding its prospect of being reflected in actual teaching plans)

초록

본 연구는 교육과정의 지역화를 위하여 2007년 개정 유치원 교육과정을 중심으로 전북지역 유치원 교사들이 지역수준에 적합한 유치원 교육과정을 편성․운영하고자 할 때 국가수준 유치원 교육과정을 반영하는 정도에 대한 인식을 살펴보았다. 연구대상은 국공립 및 사립 유치원 교사 228명이며, 연구도구는 본 연구자들이 관련 자료를 참고하여 질문지를 제작하였다. 연구결과를 제시하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 추구하는 인간상에서는 “민주 시민 의식을 기초로 공동체의 발전에 공헌하는 사람”에 대한 반영 인식이 높았다. 둘째 구성 방침에서는 “유아의 기본 생활 습관과 전통문화, 창의성을 강조하여 구성한다”에 대한 반영 인식이 높았다. 셋째, 교육목표에서는 “몸과 마음을 건강하게 하며 기본 생활 습관을 기른다”에 대한 반영 인식이 높았다. 넷째, 하위 교육목표 및 교육내용의 반영 인식은 다음과 같다. 건강생활영역 교육목표에서는 “안전한 생활 습관을 가진다”가, 교육내용에서는 “안전하게 생활하기”에 대한 반영 인식이 높았다. 사회생활영역 교육목표에서는 “자신을 소중하게 여기고 스스로 생각하여 행동하며 감정을 조절한다”가, 교육내용에서는 “나를 알고 사랑하기”에 대한 반영 인식이 높았다. 표현생활영역 교육목표에서는 “생각과 느낌을 음악, 움직임과 춤, 조형, 극놀이 및 통합적 활동으로 표현하는 과정을 즐긴다”가, 교육내용에서는 “자연과 생활에서 아름다움 찾아보기”에 대한 반영 인식이 높았다. 언어생활영역 교육목표에서는 “말하는 사람의 의도를 고려하여 주의 깊게 듣고 이해한다”가, 교육내용에서는 “듣기”에 대한 반영 인식이 높았다. 탐구생활영역 교육목표에서는 “사물과 자연현상에 대해 호기심을 가지고 지속적으로 탐구하는 태도를 기른다”가, 교육내용에서는 “탐구하는 태도 기르기”에 대한 반영 인식이 높았다. 이러한 교사의 인식은 추후 지역에 적합한 교육과정 개발 시 해당 지역 유치원의 실정에 맞는 교육과정 및 자료집 개발의 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

영어초록

This study was conducted to examine kindergarten teachers’ perceptions about the 2007 National Kindergarten Curriculum in order to help promote its localization. Specifically, the research focused on the extent to which the national curriculum would be reflected in actual teaching plans suitable for particular regional circumstances. Subjects of this study were 228 teachers at national, public and private kindergartens in Jeollabuk-do (North Jeolla Province). As research tools, a questionnaire was made by the researchers on the basis of relevant materials.
This study has produced the following results:
First, as for the ideal profile of the educated person, the teachers chose “contribution to the development of the community where he/she lives on the basis of democratic citizenship” as the foremost value to be reflected in their curriculum.
Second, regarding the general framework of the curriculum, the teachers gave the utmost emphasis on “diversifying the contents and methods of instruction according to each child’s developmental characteristics.”
Third, with regard to the educational goals, the teachers showed the highest interest in “promoting healthy development of the mind and body” and “helping children acquire basic living habits.”
Fourth, the teachers displayed the following perceptions about specific educational areas:
A) Regarding the area of “Physical Health,” the teachers placed the greatest importance on “developing healthy and safe living habits” as its objective, and on “playing and living safely” as its content.
B) Regarding the area of “Social Relationships,” the teachers were most eager to focus on “fostering see-regulation abilities by making plans and implementing them on the basis of positive self-concepts” as its objective, and “thinking positively of oneself” as its content.
C) Regarding the area of “Expression,” the teachers were most interested in “developing an ability to express creatively and emotional security by expressing thoughts and feelings through various activities” as its objective, and “exploring artistic elements in nature and the surrounding environment” as its content.
D) Regarding the area of “Language,” the teachers paid the highest level of attention to “developing the ability to listen attentively and understand what others are saying” as its objective, and to “listening” as its content.
E) Regarding the area of “Inquiry,” the teachers were most interested in “developing the ability and attitude to think scientifically about natural phenomena and their environment” as its objective, and in “helping young children develop scientific attitudes” as its content.
These perceptions of kindergarten teachers as shown in this study may be used as basic data in developing curriculums and teaching materials suitable for particular regions and communities.
