Landscape Change Process an around the Sunkyojang House in Kangneung

초록

Sunkyojang House is a leading house type for nobility family in latter part of Chosun Dynasty, and the form of garden created in its landscape attracts attention as target of study on traditional landscaping. A basic material will be provided through examination of details of transformation of landscapes including topography, housing, gardens, etc. for study on gardens of nobility family, and results induced from this are summarized as the following.
First, as a result of checking with the process of space transformation, areas of Sunkyojang seems to have been extended creating amusement facility in the method of extension of building for housing function. This appears to be characteristic of family centered housing area wrapped with amusement area.
Second, examination was conducted on the process of changes dividing period showing clear change of space among timely range into 5 period zones from 1950 that Sunkyojang was created till present, and changing pattern could be analyzed influenced by internal and external factors by periods.
Characterictics of each time period zone appeared as 1st period foundation work, 2nd for extension work, 3rd for expansion, 4th for burning/damage and 5th for utilization.
Third, whole area of Hwallaejeong could be divided into 3 kinds of periods. Changes have been done to a landscape where a pavilion was erected in the halfway of Yonji Pond and trees, grass and flowers were planted in its three sides, a landscape where building from halfway of Yonji Pond was moved to the east direction for extension and bamboos were planted in halfway and present landscape that pine trees were planted in halfway of Yonji Pond, living hedge of sharon rose and lagerstroemia trees were planted in four sides of Yonji Pond.
