    초록

    Arte Povera is a modem artistic movement and it’s name was given by the art critic, Germano Celant to the group of artists who took a radical stance in the late-1960s in the northem p따t of Italy. Art Povera, which can be interpreted as "poor art", had its name from a terminology in Grotowsky’s theatrical theorγ Grotowsky was the founder of ‘poor theater' and was renowned for setting the era of ‘post-theatrical' .
    The artists of Arte Povera sought for pragmatic nature of things through mundane forms of life and expressed the nature as a response of energy or as an object in a poetic manner and suggested and showed the audience participation as a form.
    Celant encouraged their passion and planned numerous group exhibitions and made Arte Povera widely known throughout the world. This paved the way for Arte Povera to hold much artistic influences with other major art trends at the time, eventually securing itself a place in the genealogy of modem art as a radical art movement. There were various intemationally prominent 따t movements such as process art, conceptual art, land art, and other types of arts at the time when the artists of Arte Povera established their identities. Radical industralization performed amidst numerous economical, societal, and political upheaval in Italy with the support of America and induced unequivalent local growth and mass strikes.
    Criticism on art was started in this atmosphere and Arte Povera was bom as a result of the industralization calling itself an ‘overturning’ of traditional form of expression, culture and customs, and became a successor of futurism, a radical art movement in the 20th century in Italy.
    However, if futurism supported participation of World War 1 and praised the era of machinery and future visions, Arte Povera differed in that it was skeptical to rapid creation of utopia and technological civilization. It rather called for metaphorical expression in introspection and meditation of nature, civilization, life, and, art through simplicity and mundanity. Artists of Arte Povera exchanged their ideas on art with other contemporary artists and supplied many artistic symbols to them. The ongoing movement still influences many artists and shows itself in various forms of 따t and it is mentioned in the book of Nicolas Bourriaud titled 'Relational Aesthetics: Esthetique Relationnelle as ’ artwork creates a social environment in which people come together to participate in a shared activity'. Therefore, Arte Povera has a significant presence and historical value with considerable impact throughout the time considering the will of the artists who tried to change the existed artistic way of expressing ideas when the freedom of expression was restricted and Chelant who managed to have group exhibitions with the artists' s works and the various aspects of the Arte Povera artists on objects may have educational values to people in art.
