놀이와 학습에 대한 부모의 태도, 교육열, 유아 일상생활 간의 관계 (A study of the relationship between parental attitudes toward play and learning, education fever, and children's daily life)

초록

본 연구는 놀이와 학습에 대한 부모의 태도, 교육열, 유아 일상생활의 경향을 알아보고, 변인들 간의 관계를 살펴보는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 연구대상은 전국 11개 지역의 만3-5세 자녀를 둔 주 양육자 1,268명이었다. 연구방법은 부모용 질문지를 이용하였고, 자료 분석을 위해 평균과 표준편차, 최대값과 최소값, 빈도와 백분율을 산출하였으며, Pearson 상관분석을 실시하였다. 본 연구의 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 놀이와 학습에 대한 부모의 태도에 있어서 부모들은 자녀의 놀이를 학습보다 더 가치 있고 중요한 일이며, 놀이와 학습에 있어서 부모의 역할 또한 중요하다고 여기고 있었다. 부모 교육열은 일반적 교육열, 자녀의 대학 진학열, 자녀교육 지원행위 순으로 높은 것으로 나타났다. 가정에서의 놀이와 학습 관련 유아 일상생활에 있어서 유아들은 놀이, 예술과 책보기, 영상시청 및 게임, 학습, 체험활동 순으로 하고 있었다. 둘째, 놀이와 학습에 대한 부모의 태도와 부모 교육열의 관계에서 부모의 놀이 중요성 태도, 학습 중요성 태도, 부모역할 중요성 태도가 높을수록 부모 교육열이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 놀이와 학습에 대한 부모의 태도와 유아 일상생활의 관계에서는 부모가 유아의 놀이가 중요하다고 생각할수록 놀이시간과 학습시간이 많아졌고, 학습이 중요하다고 생각할수록 학습시간과 영상시청 및 게임 시간이 많아지는 것으로 나타났으며, 부모 역할이 중요하다고 생각할수록 학습 시간이 많아지는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 부모교육열이 높을수록 유아 일상생활 중 학습시간이 많아지는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 전국의 부모와 그 자녀를 대상으로 한 대단위 표집을 사용하여 연구결과의 일반화 가능성을 높였다는데 그 의의가 있다.

영어초록

This study examined the tendency of parental attitudes toward play and learning, education fever, children's daily life, and the relationship between the variables. The subjects were 1,268 primary caregivers who have children aged 3 to 5 years in 11 regions of Korea. Data were collected from a questionnaire given to the parents. For data analysis, the mean and standard deviation, maximum and minimum values, frequency and percentage were calculated, and the data were analyzed by Pearson correlation analysis. The results of this study are as follows. First, in the aspect of parental attitudes toward play and learning, parents regarded their children's play as more valuable and important than learning, and considered important the role of parents in play and learning as well. The parents' education fever appeared in general education fever, children's college entrance, and support activities for children's education, in this order from lowest to highest. In the aspect of children's daily life related to play and learning at home, children spent time playing, doing arts and crafts, reading books, watching videos, playing games, and engaging in learning and hands-on activities, in this order from lowest to highest. Second, regarding parental attitudes toward play and learning, and parents' education fever, results showed that the stronger the attitude toward the importance of play, academics, and parental role, the greater the parents' education fever. Regarding parental attitudes toward play and learning, and children's daily life, results showed that the amount of time spent on children's play and learning increased, as parents regard play as more important. This indicates that the more important learning is thought to be, the more time is spent on learning, watching videos and playing games. It showed that the more important the role of parents is thought to be, the more time children spend on learning. Also, it showed that the greater the parental education fever, the more time is spent on learning in children's daily life. This study is significant in that it increases the possibility of generalizing the study results by sampling a larger scale of parents and their children across the country.
