시각장애자를 위한 유도사인 정보체계 조사연구 -부산지하철역을 중심으로- (A Study on the Information System for Directional Signs for the Visually Impaired Person -Focusing on Busan Subway Stations-)

초록

본 연구는 시각장애자가 단독보행 하는데 있어서 지하철을 중심으로 한 교통수단을 안전하게 목적지까지 이동할 수 있도록 하는 것을 목적으로 하며, 시각장애자의 생활에 중요한 사인정보제공방법에 관한 연구이다.
상기의 목적을 달성하기 위한 1차 연구로서, 지하철유도 안내시설을 시각장애자의 관점에서 장애인 편의시설을 중점으로 조사 및 분석을 하였다. 첫째, 일반적인 시각장애인 유도사인에 의한 현황을 살펴보았으며 둘째, 현황을 바탕으로 한 부산 지하철 유도사인 직접조사 및 분석함으로써 개선점과 문제점을 제시하였다. 본 연구에서 의미하는 유도사인이란 음성유도사인과 촉지유도사인을 의미하며 시각장애인이 지하철공간에서 목적지까지 이동하는 스피커 등의 전기적인 음향설비에 의한 음성을 이용하여 전달되는 수단과 점자블록, 점자버턴 등의 제반시설을 의미한다. 구체적으로는 시각장애인의 보행특성, 시설기준, 시설현황 등을 국내 부산지하철(서면, 수영)을 조사 및 분석하는 방법으로 하였다. 조사내용으로는 시각장애인의 이동과 관련된 요소라고 할 수 있는 음향, 장해물, 바닥시설, 점자블록, 신호, 촉지도, 빛, 후각 등을 대상으로 하였다. 먼저, 부산지하철(서면, 수영)의 장애인 전용 사인에 대한 1차 조사에 대한 결과, 시각장애자가 지하철을 이용하여 이동하기위한 시설과 정보가 충분하지 않다는 것이 지적되었다. 그리고 시각장애자의 시각정보의 변환점이라고 할 수 있는 촉지정보와 음성정보의 사인표현이 정상인처럼 체계적으로 시스템화 되어있지 않고 있으며, 정보인지 체계가 구체화 되어 있지 않고 있는 것을 알 수 있었다.

영어초록

This study aims to enable the visually impaired to move to their destination safely by unaided ambulation through transportation centering on a subway system, and this study is concerned with how to offer important information through signs in the lives of the visually impaired.
As the primary study for attaining the above goal, the study conducted an investigative analysis focusing on convenient facilities, specifically, for a subway the directional information facility for the disabled from the perspective of the visually impaired. First, the study looked into the current general directional signs for the visually impaired; and second, proposed solutions and problems through the direct investigation and analysis of the directional signs of Busan subway based on the current situation. The directional signs implied in this study mean a voice directional sign and a tactual directional sign. Also, it means all relevant facilities such as Braille blocks and Braille buttons as well as a means of delivery using a voice by an electric sound facility including a speaker, which leads the visually impaired to move from a subway space to their destination. In detail, the study used the method of carrying out an investigative analysis of Busan subway stations (Seomyeon and Suyeong) in Korea, concerning the ambulatory characteristics of the visually impaired, criteria for facilities, and the current facilities. Regarding the research contents, the study aimed at sound, barriers, flooring facilities, Braille blocks, signals, tactual map, light, and smell, which may be factors related to the movement of the visually impaired.
First, as a result of the primary investigation of the signs exclusively for the disabled in Busan subway stations (Seomyeon and Suyeong), it was pointed out that facilities and information for the visually impaired to move by subway were not satisfactory. Also, it was discovered that the sign expression of tactual information and voice information, which may be the focal point of visual information for the visually impaired, were not systematic unlike those for the non-disabled, and the system of information recognition was not in detail.
