The Study on the Transnational Terrorism's Cause With Global Peace Index

초록

The object of this study is to find relationship between factors (Global peace index), which show how peace the country is and the number of transnational terrorism. In criminology, many investigators have tried to find what caused crime, such as poverty, single mother, young black people and etc through empirical study. On the other hand, there are rare empirical studies about what cause terrorism, most studies have concentrated how to kill terrorists by theoretical studies.
However, finding the cause of terrorism has to be preceded before killing terrorists. If finding the cause of terrorism and removing it before it can influence any segment of population it would save resources to find and kill terrorists. This paper examines transnational terrorism using Global Peace Index (GPI) and data from the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC) to identify the root of causes of terrorism. In conclusion, this paper shows conflicts and the daed in a country would increase the number of transnational terrorism. In addition, number of jailed population would decrease terrorism. This paper shows and suggests the elimination of causes should be the focus of terrorism policies rather than the focus on elimination of terrorists.
This study is the first step to reconsider how to quit vicious circle model, which is killing terrorists and then advent of new terrorists, with peaceful policy.
