초록

Police in many countries have been trying to maintain social order since the coronavirus outbreak. It is true that the police lack a comprehensive system and specific programs for corona response compared to the medical and public health sectors. However, the police contributed a lot to the prevention of corona and the prevention of spread through much effort.
Social distancing and self-isolation could effectively protect communities, but unexpected problems also occurred due to punishment for policy violations. In some cases, the police refused to report the contactor or hid their movements due to distrust of the police. There were also concerns that the police would implement policies related to corona discriminately.
Such concerns and distrust can be addressed by community police activities. It is true that police have made a lot of sacrifices and efforts to protect communities during the coronavirus era. A police disaster countermeasure headquarters was established and operated, and a corona investigation support system was established to track the movement of confirmed patients to prevent the spread of corona.
In addition, various plans were established and implemented based on local police activities. Rules violators were quickly detected so that rule-abiding people would not be harmed, and various measures were implemented to protect not only local residents but also police officers.
There are various definitions of community police activities, but there is no disagreement that community police activities work closely with local residents to strengthen bond and trust through interaction between police and the community. A number of policies restricting citizens' rights can be implemented only when community police activities are carried out smoothly. In unprecedented coronavirus situations, the importance of community police activities is bound to increase.
