A Study on Location Analysis of Inland Logistics Depots in Korea

초록

This paper shows location analysis of inland logistics depots in early 1990s and early 2010s, similar to a before-and-after study; which factors are adopted and how important the factors are. In other words, the objective of this paper is to investigate differences between past and present evaluation factors and their importance for optimal site selection of inland logistics depots and the additional important criteria. By using Factor Analysis and the AHP method, factors and groups are identified and priority and weights of evaluation criteria are calculated.
As results, ‘transport accessibility’ ranked the most important and ‘hinterland industry and freight demand’ judged as secondly important criteria for optimum site selection of inland logistics depots in the recent study. Among total 22 measuring criteria, 'accessibility of highway' ranked the most important and 'logistics cost savings' is followed. Logistics costs saving through establishment of inland logistics depots as well as favourable policy environment is also highly-evaluated criterion.
In a comparative study, the group, ‘transport accessibility’ is scored high in both studies. The group, ‘site features’ was important in the past study but less important in the recent analysis. The group ‘hinterland’ which divided by ‘hinterland industry and freight volume’ and ‘adjacent city’, show the opposite result; less important in the past, but much important in the present.
