유아 및 어머니의 변인에 따른 어머니의 정서표현수용태도와 유아의 사회적 능력의 관계 (The difference of Maternal Attitudes Toward Children's Emotional Expressiveness and Children's Social Competence by Characteristics of Children and Mother)

초록

본 연구는 만 3세∼만 5세 유아 207명과 그들의 어머니 207명을 대상으로 유아 및 어머니의 변인에 따른 어머니의 정서표현수용태도와 유아의 사회적 능력이 어떠한 차이가 있는지를 알아보는데 목적을 두었다. 본 연구에 나타난 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 어머니의 정서표현수용태도는 유아 변인인 유아의 성별, 연령, 출생순위, 형제자매수, 어머니 변인인 어머니학력, 어머니 취업여부, 어머니 연령에 따라 차이가 없다. 둘째, 유아의 사회적 능력 중 유능성은 출생 순위에서 셋째 아동이 첫째 아동보다 높게 나타났으며, 어머니 변인에서 어머니의 직업이 있는 유아가, 직업이 없는 유아보다 높다. 또한 지도력은 유아 변인인 유아 연령에서만5세 유아가 만4세, 만3세 유아보다 높게 나타났으며, 어머니 변인에 따라서는 차이가 없다.
불안정성은 유아 개인변인인 유아 성별에서 여아가 남아보다 더 높고, 출생순위에서 첫째 유아와 둘째 유아가 셋째 유아보다 더 높은 것으로 나타났으며, 형제자매수가 세명이상인 경우보다 한명, 혹은 두명인 경우가 더 높은 것으로 나타났다. 어머니 변인은 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 부모에 대한 애정은 유아 변인과 어머니 변인에 따라 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 방해성은 유아변인에 따라 차이가 없지만, 어머니 연령에서 만35세∼만40세가 만41세이상보다 더 높은 것으로 나타났다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study was to examine the characteristics of preschool children and their mothers to determine their attitudes toward their children's emotional expressiveness and to determine if a mother's position in life has an effect on their child's social competence. The research questions of this study are as follows: What are the differences in the variables of children (age, sex, birth order, and number of siblings) and their mothers (age, occupation, education level) that determine the mother's attitudes toward their children's emotional expressiveness? How do the variables of each child effect their nother's attitude toward their expressiveness? How do the variables of the mother effect her attitude toward her child's expressiveness? What are the differences in the variables of children and their mothers that determine the child's social competence?How do the variables of each chid effect their social competence? How do the variables of the mother effect their child's social competence? The subjects in this study were 17 boys and girls of the western age 3, 113 boys and girl of the western age of, 77 boys and girls of the western age of 5. These 207 boys and girls are enrolled in public and private preschools in the Busan Metropolitan area. The children's mothers (all 207) were also subjects in this study. The tool used was the PACES Scale (Parent Attitude Toward Children's Expressiveness Scale), as established by Saarni(1990). The conclusions of this study are as follows: First, neither the variables of the child or the mother had any meaning on the mother's attitude toward their child's emotional expressivness. Second, there was a meaningful difference in the child's social competence when compared to their variables. There was also a meaningful difference in the mother's effect on their child's social competence when their variables were taken into account. The social abilities of third born children showed to be higher than that of first born children, and the children who had a mother with a job or career showed higher than that of children whose mother was a housekeeper. There was also a meaningful difference in leadership qualities. children with a western age of 5 showed higher than children who were younger. However their mother's variables did not show a meaningful difference in the influence of these qualities. Boys of all ages showed to be more unstable than girls, but the mother's variables showed no meaningful difference in the influence of this trait. There was no meaningful difference in the variables of the children or the mothers in the area of affection of mothers for their children. Mothers aged 35 to 40 had a higher rate of interruption than mothers who were aged 41 or older.
