한국어-중국어 이중언어 사용 아동의 생성이름대기 특성 탐색 (The Characteristics in Generative Naming of Korean-Chinese Bilingual Children)

초록

본 연구에서는 이중언어를 사용하는 아동의 생성이름대기 특성을 알아봄으로써 이중언어 발달을 탐색하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 한국어-중국어 이중언어 아동과 한국어 단일언어 아동, 중국어 단일언어 아동의 의미범주 생성이름대기 및 음소범주 생성이름대기에서 총 산출 단어수, 군집 수, 군집 크기, 전환 횟수를 살펴보고, 이중언어 아동의 체류기간, 독서시간, 중국어 과외시간과의 상관관계와 4가지 조건에 나타난 어휘를 분석하였다. 본 연구에 참여한 대상자는 만 11세로 중국산둥성 칭다오시(山東省 靑島市)에 거주하는 한국어-중국어 이중언어 아동 15명, 중국어 단일언어 아동 15명, 그리고 국내 P지역에 거주하는 한국어 단일언어 아동 15명으로 구성되었다. 이중언어 아동들은 의미범주 생성이름대기에서 4가지 조건(Korean-only:‘동물’, Chinese-only:‘가게 물건’, Free-switch:‘채소’, and Forced-switch:‘음식’)과 음소범주 생성이름대기에는 한국어 음소 /ᄀ/. /ᄂ/와 중국어 음소 /D/, /L/을 제시하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 의미범주 생성이름대기 과제에서 이중언어 아동은 단일언어 아동과 비교하였을 때, 군집 수에서 유의미한 차이가 나타났다. 둘째, 음소범주 생성이름대기 과제에서 이중언어 아동은 단일언어 아동과 비교하였을 때, 음소 /D/의 총 산출 단어 수, 군집 수에서 유의미한 차이를 보였다. 셋째, 이중언어 아동집단에서 체류기간, 독서시간, 중국어 과외시간에 따른 상관관계는 중국어 과외시간과 중국어 과제 ‘가게 물건’및 독서시간과 음소 /D/에서 통계적으로 유의미한 상관관계가 나타났다. 넷째, 이중언어 아동집단에서 4가지 조건(Korean-only, Chinese-only, Free-switch, and Forced-switch conditions)에 나타난 생성이름대기 검사에서는 단일언어만 사용하는 조건 (Korean-only, Chinese-only)보다 이중언어를 사용하는 조건(Free-switch, and Forced-switch)에서 생성이름대기 점수가 더 낮게 나타났다. 또한 한국어-중국어 이중언어 아동의 생성이름대기 능력이 중국어 과외시간, 독서시간과 유의미한 상관관계를 보였다.

영어초록

This study investigated the characteristics of generative naming of Korean-Chinese bilingual children with the comparison to the Korean and Chinese monolingual. It tries : 1) to compare the total number of words, the number of clusters, the size of clusters, and the number of switches in the generative naming of semantic and phonetic, 2) to examine the correlation of the period of stay, reading time, chinese private lesson time in the generative naming of semantic and phonetic, and 3) to investigate lexical effect of four conditions(Korean-only, Chinese-only, Free-switch, Forced-switch)of bilingual children in the generative naming of semantic.
Subjects who participated in this study were 15 Korean-Chinese bilinguals and 15 Chinese monolinguals living in China, 15 Korean monolinguals living in Korea in aged fully 11-years old. Bilingual children performed 4 conditions( ‘animals’ category in Korean-only, ‘things to buy in the market’ category in Chinese-only, ‘vegetables’ category in Free-switch, and ‘foods’ category in Forced-switch conditions) in the semantic categories, and /ᄀ/, /ᄉ/, /D/, /L/ in the phonetic.
The following were the results of this experiment. First, In the semantic categories of generative naming, there was a significant difference in the number of clusters.
Second, In the phonetic categories of generative naming, the total number of words and the number of clusters in chinese phonetic of /D/ were significantly different. Third, the correlation of the period of stay, reading time, Chinese private lesson compared with the semantic and phonetic total number of words. According to the results, there was a significant correlation in chinese private lesson and ‘things to buy in the market’ category in Chinese and then reading time and chinese phonetic of /D/. The fourth, In the generative naming of semantic, we examined lexical effect of four conditions of bilingual children. the result showed less the both-languages conditions than the Korean-only and Chinese-only conditions, and higher Forced-switch condition than Free-switch.
This study is meaningful to suggesting standard data about generative naming ability for Korean-Chinese bilingual children.
