“아시아·태평양 전쟁기(1931～1945)” 한국관련 서술의 분석—2007년도 검정 고교일본사를 중심으로— (The Textual Analysis of Korean Subjects in the Textbooks of Japanese History for Japanese High School—Focus on the Period of Asia Pacific War(1931～1945)—)

초록

본고에서는 2007년 일본 문부과학성의 검정을 통과한 고등학교 일본사 교과서 10종에 보이는 “아시아·태평양 전쟁기(1931～1945)” 한국 관련 서술 내용에 보이는 문제점을 검토함으로써 다음을 밝힐 수 있었다.
먼저 일본학계의 정통적·성찰적 역사해석과 역사수정주의자들의 주장이 가장 첨예하게 부딪치고 있는 “종군위안부”문제에 대한 서술을 검토한 결과 거의 모든 교과서가 역사수정주의자들의 압력과 문부과학성 검정의 칼날을 의식해 그 동원의 강제성과 운영에 있어 국가나 군대의 개입에 대해 명확한 기술을 회피하고 있다. 또한 대다수 교과서가 침략전쟁의 본질과 황민화정책의 강제성에 대해 애매모호하게 서술하는 경우가 많으며, 식민지근대화론을 긍정적으로 묘사하거나 식민지 지배의 혜택을 기술한 교과서도 있다.
다음으로 2006년 12월 국가주의 교육의 대두를 막는 안전판 역할을 해 온 교육기본법이 개정되고, 침략의 역사를 성찰적으로 기술하는데 준거가 되어 온 “근린제국조항”에 대한 우익의 철폐 요구가 거세지고 있으며, 일본의 국가권력이 교과서 검정제도를 통해 “자율규제”나 “자발적 수정”이라는 미명하에 역사기억에 대한 통제를 강화하고 있는 상황을 고려해 볼 때, 향후 일본교과서에 침략의 역사적 사실에 대한 서술 내용은 점점 더 이를 은폐하는 쪽으로 흐를 것으로 보인다. 따라서 앞으로 역사교육에 대한 국가의 간섭의 정도가 점점 더 심해질 것이며, 국가권력이 교과서 검정제도를 통해 시민의 역사기억을 왜곡하고 통제하려는 경향도 점차 강해질 것으로 보인다.

영어초록

The purpose of this paper is to examine the problems of writing materials related to Korean subjects specifically for the period of Asia Pacific War(1931～1945) in the textbooks of Japanese history for Japanese high school that go through the process of the authorization from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan in 2007. The major points are as follows:
First, according to the results of the analysis on the theme of ‘sexual slave(or comfort women)’ which has been the most controversial issue between Japanese orthodoxy-reflective historians and the history revisionists, the majority of the Japanese textbooks avoids the manifest descriptions over the issue of compulsory recruitment and military involvements absorbing the pressure of the historical revisionists and the political stance of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan. The textbooks exhibit not only the extreme ambiguity on the nature of invasion war and the policy of ‘Japanization’ with a great royalty to the Japanese Emperor, but also the positive interpretations and benefits of the colonization developments.
Secondly, it would not be too much exaggeration that Japanese government would continue to attempt to conceal the nature of invasion history for the future, considering the facts that the Fundamentals of Education Act of Japan, which have been functioned as a safety net to prevent the escalation of nationalism education, was unilaterally revised in December 2006; the abolition demands of the right-wing organizations for the provision of the vicinity countries, which has been conceived in times as normative criteria for the critical writings of the invasion history, has been erupted; and the systematic involvement of Japanese government for restricting different historical perspectives in the name of “self-imposed control” or “voluntary revision,” adopting the system of examination of history textbooks.
