초록

여성의 젠더와 섹슈얼리티는 가부장적인 민족 서사 속에서 남성이 정치적 대표성을 가진 주체로 표상되는 가운데 의미를 얻어왔다. 민족 서사는 종종 여성을 회복되어야 할 성스러운 민족의땅인 어머니로, 제국주의에 의해 더럽혀진 조국으로 은유화하는 경향이 있다. 성스럽거나 더렵혀졌거나 간에 민족의 역사가 기입되는 공간이 된 육체는 자신의 언어를 강탈당할 수밖에 없다.
민족 이야기가 회생자로서의 어머니나 누이의 욕체에 민족의 현실을 기의하던 방식은 전후 개발독재와 유신체제기에 오면 일정한 변화를 보인다. '양공주 는 1960-70년대의 개발독재기 민족주의 서사에서 민족의 식민화된 현실을 환기시키는 표상으로 위치지어진다. 어머니나 누이가 아닌, 서구화와 근대성의 표상인 '양공주' 로 이동된 시선은 서구에 깊이 매혹된 국가를 부인하고, 경제적 풍요로 인한 관능적 성과 무질서한 자유의 상상력을 억압함으로써 장애물없이 질주하려는 권력의 기획으로부터 자유롭지 않다.

부정적인 여성이 대체로 성적으로 각성된 여성으로 표상되고, 남성 주체성의 결손됨과 회복하기가 여성의 성적 주체성에 대한 부인을 통해 이루어지는 것은 개발독재기 문학의 특징이다. 민족 이야기 속에 재현된 '양공주 의 섹슈얼리티는 탈식민화가 국가 충위에서 작동했던 개발독재기문학의 가부장성에 대한 연구에서 핵심적인 위치를 차지한다.
