야스퍼스의 ‘사회적 실존’ 개념의 교육적 의미 (A Study on Educational Meaning of Jaspers' Social Existence)

초록

현대사회에서 위협받고 있는 인간성의 회복을 위한 교육적 노력의 의미를 찾는데 목적을 두고 있다. 사회적 실존은 사회구성원의 실존됨을 방해하는 현존재적 조건의 변화를 위해 노력하는 실존이다. 사회적 실존은 삶의 실존적 조건의 성취를 위해 소통하는 실존, 현존재적 관계맺음의 방식을 비판하면서 실존적 관계맺음을 지향하는 실존으로서 현대에 요청되는 인간형이다. 야스퍼스는 진정한 대화는 너를 진정으로 들으려고 하는 ‘나와 너’의 관계에서만 이루어질 수 있으며, 사회적 실존의 관계맺음의 양식을 사랑하는 투쟁으로 보고 있다. 사랑하는 투쟁이란 투쟁이긴 하지만 상대방의 발전을 독려하는 투쟁이며, 실존적 교제의 특징이다.
교육이란 근본적으로 살아있는 인간이 또 하나의 자유로운 인간과 만나는 것이다. 따라서 가장 깊은 본질적인 차원에 있어서 교육이란 인간과 인간 사이의 삶의 대결이다. 사회적 실존의 교육적 의미는 무엇보다 공동체의식을 통해 이웃사랑의 실천으로 더불어 삶을 살며 진정한 인간적 인격교육과 자아실현의 완성을 가능하게 한다고 보겠다. 그러나 사회적 실존개념의 잠재적 교육과정으로서의 그 실천 방법에 있어서는 지속적으로 연구되어야 할 것이다.

영어초록

This study is aimed at suggestion of educational meaning as a concept of social existence based on Jaspers' idea of social existence. Individual becomes an individual in the society. The concept of existence is useful for pursuit of the community in which individual is alive, that is, particularism is alive in universalism. This study take an interest in the individual who develops society as a real self, namely, ‘myself in the society as myself'. The meaning of developing society here is structuralizing existential conditions towards promotion of being existence of the community members. Social existence is striving existence for the change of present existential condition and it is practicing existence towards originality and essence.
Jaspers' idea of social nature as an existence is solitude to existence, opening and existential conversation, and struggling while love each other. Existential solitude is a lonely consciousness and it is also said an appeal to an adventure of independent self-examination. We cannot be ourselves without communication and we cannot cmmunicate without solitude. To realize the original existence, we need to meet the others as social existences through sincere solitude.
Opening and exitential conversation make us experience others vividly by feeling personality and opening ourselves. It means 'you' inside 'me' and 'I' inside 'you'. Real conversation can be possible in the relationship of 'you and me' to listen to each other earnestly.
Struggling while we love premises true opening with encouragement each other to be an real existence and we should not overwhelm the other. We have to admit the critical situation such as death, agony, strife and guilty and accept the other's opinion giving up out egos. With that reciprocal conversation, we take interests in modification our opinion creatively. We should make great efforts based on existential self-consciousness for synergy effect of self-revolution and social revolution to solve social problems like people's estrangement.
The value of Jaspers' educational idea of social existence is emphasizing human being's personality. We can realize change of spirit, education for true personality which is the biggest problem to solve in modern education by association and awakening other souls as a social existence.
Jaspers' idea of social existence urges the awakening of the education for recovery of humanity and suggests the direction. The urgent problem in the modern education is raising active human beings with individuality and subjectivity but the various methods to practice should be investigated continuously.
