청소년의 내현적 자기애가 또래관계에 미치는 영향: 내외통제성 매개효과 (The Influence of Covert Narcissism on Peer Relationship: The Mediating Effects of Internal & External Locus of Control)

초록

본 연구의 목적은 청소년의 내현적 자기애가 또래관계에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고, 그 과정에서 내외통제성의 매개효과를 검증하는 것이다. 이를 위해 서울, 경기, 대구, 전주 지역의 고등학교에 재학 중인 남․녀 청소년 375명의 연구대상으로부터 얻은 자료를 분석한 결과 첫째, 청소년의 내현적 자기애와 또래관계는 부적 관계를 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 내현적 자기애가 강할수록 또래관계에 어려움이 많다는 것을 의미한다. 둘째, 청소년의 내현적 자기애는 내외통제성에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 내현적 자기애가 강할수록 내적통제성은 약해지고, 외적통제성이 강해졌다. 이는 지독한 자기 사랑으로 자신에게 일어나는 사건의 원인을 보는 성향, 지각, 신념에 따른 통제의 소재를 행운, 운명, 다른 강력한 행동 등 외부 요인에 둠으로써 실패나 좌절을 회피하는 것으로 해석된다. 셋째, 내외통제성은 또래관계에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 내적통제성이 높아질수록 사회적지지, 친밀, 대립에 정적 영향을 미쳤으며, 외적통제성은 사회적지지, 처벌/주도권과 정적이며, 대립과 부적 관계를 맺는 것을 확인했다. 넷째, 청소년의 내현적 자기애와 또래관계에서 내외통제성은 인정욕구/거대자기환상이 처벌/주도권에 영향을 미칠 때를 제외하고, 부분적 또는 완전하게 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 내현적 자기애의 하위요인에 따라 내적통제성 및 외적통제성을 적절히 매개시킴으로써 청소년의 또래관계 부적응을 효과적으로 개선할 수 있음을 시사한다. 본 연구결과를 토대로 내현적 자기애와 또래관계, 내외통제성의 관계 및 상담실제에 대한 시사점과 후속연구에 대한 제언을 논하였다.

영어초록

The purpose of this research is to check the effects of adolescents' covert narcissism to peer relationship and is to verify the mediating effects of internal and external locus of control in this process. As a result of analysis on the data obtained from 375 male and female adolescent at high school in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Daegu and Jeonju area, firstly it is shown that the relation between adolescents' covert narcissism and peer relationship has negative relationship. It implies that as the convert narcissism is stronger, there are many difficulties in peer relationship Secondly, it was shown that the adolescent’s convert narcissism has significant effects to the internal & external locus of control. As the convert narcissism gets stronger, the internal control gets weakened and the external control gets stronger. It is interpreted that this is the serious narcissism thus a person tries to avoid failure and frustration by placing control factors according to the tendency, recognition and faith for external factors such as luck, destiny and other strong behavioral activities. Thirdly, it is shown that the internal and external lotus of control has effects to the peer group. As the internal control gets higher, it has positive effects to the social support, intimacy and opposition. And, it was verified that the external control has negative effects to the social support, punishment and leadership are positive and the opposition has negative effects. Forth, it was shown that the internal and external lotus of control in the relationship between adolescent’s convert narcissism and peer relation are mediated partly or completely except when the desire for recognition and the enormous self-illusion have effects to the punishment and leadership. It implies that inadequacy in the adolescents’ peer relationship can be effectively improved by mediating internal control and external control adequately. Based on the results of the research, the implications of convert narcissism, peer relationship, relationship of internal and external lotus of control and practical counselling and the suggestions on follow-up study have been discussed in this research.
