이야기치료를 통한 이야기 정체성 형성과 건강한 자기애 발달 (Formation of Narrative Identity and Development of Healthy Narcissism through Narrative Therapy)

초록

본 연구의 목적은 왜곡된 정체성을 지닌 이들이 이야기치료로 치유되고 건강한 자기애의 발달을 경험하도록 돕는데 있다. 이를 위해 연구자는 먼저 정체성과 자기애에 관한 이론을 고찰하였다. 본 연구자가 직접 개입한 이야기치료 사례를 통하여 사례별로 드러난 참여자의 왜곡된 정체성과 연구 과정에서 드러난 대안적 정체성 이야기들을 주제별로 범주화하였다. 사례 연구를 위해 연구자는 다음과 같은 참여자들을 선정하였다. 연구 시기는 2016년 1월부터 2017년 7월까지 약 1년 6개월 동안 진행되었다. 참여자들은 파주시 소재의 심리센터를 내원한 30∼50대 성인 남녀로 성인 남자 3명, 성인 여자 3명이었다. 사례선정은 센터의 규정에 따라 최소 10회기에서 최대 15회기까지 진행한 사례를 선정하였다. 본 연구는 청소년기 자아정체성 형성에 어려움을 겪기 시작하면서 자기애 발달이 함께 정지된 참여자들이 이야기치료 개입을 통해 치유되어가는 과정에 관한 연구를 분석하고 고찰하였다. 결론적으로 본 연구는 센터를 내원한 성인들이 경험한 왜곡된 정체성과 자기애 발달이 정지되었음에도 자신들이 소유한 다양한 자원과 탄력성 및 기본 자질들을 발견함으로써 자신의 이야기 정체성 형성과 건강한 자기애를 재발달 시킬 수 있는 다양한 계기를 만들고자 하였다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study is to help those who have distorted self-identity to get healed by virtue of the narrative therapy and to experience the development of desirable narcissism. To this end, the researcher had a theoretical review of self-identity and narcissism. And then, based on the narrative therapy cases in which the researcher was directly involved, participants’ distorted self-identity disclosed by case and alternative self-identity stories found in the process of study have been categorized by theme. Participants for the case study were selected according to the following criteria. The study was conducted for the period of nearly 1 year and 6 months from January, 2016 to July, 2017. Of adult men and women in their 30s to 50s who visited the psychological counseling center located in Paju-si, 3 adult men and 3 adult women were selected as participants. Case selection, according to the center’s regulations, was made among cases that were continued up to 10th session at a minimum and 15th session at a maximum. This study, furthermore, as the narrative therapy was introduced, was committed to analysis and review of studies on the healing process of participants who had failed to form self-identity in a desirable manner during adolescence and had experienced the arrested development of narcissism. To sum up, this study aimed to create various opportunities for some adults who visited the counseling center, despite their experiences of distorted self-identity and arrested development of narcissism, to be able to achieve the formation of their narrative identity, as well as the redevelopment of healthy narcissism, by virtue of discovering diverse resources, resilience, and basic capabilities in them.
