초록

This study was set out to provide the basis for systemized special program and the direction for its growth to improve the role of the medical tourism coordinators in the global era. As the investigative tool, the survey was conducted to figure out the awareness and experiences for the level of awareness for the coordinators and the questions asked about the association with the visits to the hospital. Moreover, as the direct objective of this study, the survey asked questions about the directions for the role of medical tourism coordinators.
The key findings from the study are as follows. In relation to the level of awareness, those who have experienced the awareness constituted the majority while the actual cases of consultation were not many, failing to show significant differences. Despite this, those who intended to visit the hospital after the consultation exceeded the majority, indicating that the consultation with the coordinators was one of the important variables. Based on the analysis of the level of awareness for the revitalization of the role of coordinators, the results obtained are as follows.
First, the responses said that the personality education and promotion were the most important in terms of the categories in the necessary roles.
Second, as for the level of interest, the friendliness and service of the coordinators were found to be more important than anything by the level of the respondents. Also, the women were found to have a higher level of awareness in all categories.
Third, as for the importance of the role and service, the order came out to be ‘the reliability of the consultation’, followed by the ‘specialization’, ‘friendliness’ and ‘safe information management’.
The coordinators in the hospital just for the domestic patients may be limited to the management of employee and patients and consultation. However, for the overseas medical tourism, it is safe to say that the coordinators act as very important medium, acting as the foundation for the revitalization and the growth of the medical tourism.
In particular, as for the coordinators in the hospitals for the foreigners, more systemized education and management on various abilities and actual experiences be essential elements in the future.
