실습 중심 교육의 실시간 원격 강의 방식의 차이가 학습자의 성과에 미치는 영향 (Effects of the Difference in Synchronous Distance Education Methods in Practice Oriented Class on Learner’s Performance)

초록

최근 코로나19 사태로 인해 사람들 간의 물리적인 접촉을 최소화하려는 언택트 추세가 확산되고 있으며, 교육 환경에도 영향을 미치고 있다. 오프라인의 면대면 강의 방식으로 진행되던 전통적인 교육 환경은 급격하게 인터넷을 활용한 실시간 원격 강의 방식으로 바뀌고 있다. 그런데, 실습형 기술교육의 경우에는 실시간 원격 교육을 진행하게 되면 교수, 학생, 학습내용간의 상호작용을 지원하거나 교육 내용을 생생하게 전달하기 힘들다. 면대면 수업을 진행하는 경우에는 코로나19의 감염 위험이 있을 수 있다. 선행연구들은 주로 면대면 교육 방식과 원격 교육의 효과를 비교하거나 원격 교육 도입의 사례 연구에 집중하고 있다.
본 연구는 실시간 원격 수업과 실습 사례 영상을 결합하였을 경우 그렇지 않은 단순 원격 강의에 비해 어떠한 효과가 있을지 검증하였다. 특히 학습 효과에 있어 학습 과정에서의 인지된 즐거움, 몰입과 함께 학습 결과로서 학습자 만족도, 지속 이용 의도, 자기 지식 효능감 등 다양한 학습 성과 지표들을 모두 살펴보았다. 본 연구의 결과는 단순 내용 전달 위주의 실시간 원격 강의 방식에 비해 실시간 원격 강의와 실습 사례 영상을 결합한 방식이 매체 풍요도는 유의하게 늘리지만 사회적 존재감에는 영향을 미치지 못하는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 증가된 매체 풍요도는 학습자의 인지된 즐거움과 몰입에 영향을 미쳐서 학습자 만족도, 자기 지식 효능감, 지속 참여 의도를 유의하게 증가시키는 것으로 실증되었다. 이 연구는 언택트 교육 환경에서도 실습 사례 영상을 같이 제공하는 방법을 통해 실습중심 원격교육의 성과를 향상시킬 수 있음을 실증한 연구로 가치를 가진다.

영어초록

The recent Covid-19 pandemic crisis has led to a growing ‘untact’ trends aimed at minimizing physical contact between people. This trend is also affecting the educational environment. To ensure maximum interaction between professors and students and learning content, the traditional educational environment, which used to be conducted offline face-to-face lecture, is rapidly changing to a synchronous distance education using the Internet. However, practice-oriented class which is the learning-by-doing classes for technology education, synchronous distance education has limitations in showing the contents of the practical operations and examples vividly or increasing interactions between the above three elements of educational environment. Face-to-face lecture may have a risk of infection of Covid-19. Prior studies were conducted to compare the effects of face-to-face lecture with distance education or to explain the specific applications of distance education in the various context.
We challenged to verify the effects of the combined method of synchronous distance education with the video contents of practical operations and examples for learning-by-doing class of technology education, compared to simple synchronous distance educations that were not. In particular, we looked at the various indicators such as perceived enjoyment and flow in the education process and as learner’s satisfaction, continuous usage intention and knowledge self-efficacy in the education performances. The results of this study showed that a combined method of synchronous distance educations and video contents of practical operations and examples could significantly increase media richness, but could not affect on the social presence. And the increased media richness could positively affect on the perceived enjoyment and flow of learners, thereby significantly increasing learner’s satisfaction, continuous usage intention, and knowledge self-efficacy. This study is an empirical study that shows that the performance of practice-oriented education could be improved through the combined method of synchronous distance education with video contents of practice operations and examples in the untact educational environment.
