창업 기회의 유형과 실험실 창업에 대한 개념적 연구 (A Conceptual Study on the Types of Entrepreneurial Opportunity and Laboratory Start-ups)

초록

본 연구는 창업 기회의 유형에 따라 창업 기회 탐색, 창업 기회 실현에 필요한 자질과 환경 조건이 다를 필요가 있다는 것에 주목한다. 특히, 최근 정책적 관심이 부각되고 있는 실험실 창업의 창업 기회 유형을 확인하고자 하였다. 실험실 창업의 창업 기회 유형이 차별적으로 확인되면, 이에 적절한 창업 지원 정책과 교육 훈련 프로그램을 수립할 수 있다.
본 연구를 위해 창업 기회의 유형과 관련된 최근 30년간의 논문을 대상으로 8개의 주요 논문을 선정한 후, 각 기회 유형별 구분 속성을 도출하였다. 그리고 인식, 발견, 창조 기회에 대한 기존 이론들을 정리한 후, 이를 비판적으로 검토하여 재조명하였다. 그리고 실험실 창업의 내용을 수정 검토한 기회 유형의 구분 속성에 따라 검증하여‘창조 기회’유형으로 변별하였다. 또한 창조 기회 유형에서 창업가에게 필요한 역량의 한 예시로 네트워킹 역량과 시장 지향성을 제시하였다.
본 연구의 시사점은 창업 기회에 대한 존재론적 유형론을 변별하기 쉽게 중요한 구분 속성을 도출하여 개념적으로 정리한 점이다. 그리고 기존의 유형론 중 일부 혼동되었던 문제들을 비판적으로 재구성하였으며, 이를 토대로 실험실 창업의 창업 기회 유형을 창조 기회 유형으로 확정하였다. 이러한 성과는 향후 실험실 창업 및 기회 유형에 따른 창업 정책 및 창업 교육 프로그램의 개선에 도움을 주어 창업 현장에서의 실질적 성과 실현에 기여할 수 있다.

영어초록

This study focuses on the proposition that the qualities and environmental conditions required for exploring entrepreneurial opportunities and realizing entrepreneurial opportunities depend on the types of entrepreneurial opportunities. In particular, this study aims to identify the type of entrepreneurial opportunities for laboratory start-ups, which have recently been gaining policy level attention. If the type of entrepreneurial opportunities for laboratory start-ups is identified as discriminative, appropriate start-up support policies and training programs can be established.
For this study, eight major papers were identified among the papers of last 30 years related to the types of entrepreneurial opportunities. After, the classification attributes for each opportunity type were derived. Then, the existing theories of recognition, discovery and creative opportunities were organized, critically reviewed and reorganized. In addition, the substance of laboratory start-ups was verified according to the standardized classification attributes of the revised and reorganized opportunity types and newly classified as ‘creative opportunity’. This study also presents networking capabilities and market orientation as examples of the capabilities needed for entrepreneurs of creative opportunity type.
The implication of this study is that it makes it easy to discriminate ontological typology of entrepreneurial opportunity, derives important classification attributes, and that it organizes them conceptually. In addition, it critically reconstructs the problems of confusion in the existing typology, and based on this, the type of entrepreneurial opportunities for laboratory start-ups is determined as creative opportunity. These achievements can contribute to the improvement of start-up policies and start-up training programs according to the types of entrepreneurial opportunity and laboratory start-ups in the future, resulting in realization of actual results at the start-up sites.
