Artificial Intelligence Literacy-based Teaching Conditions and Model for Improving Primary English Language Learners’ Global Digital Citizenship

The purpose of this study is to suggest teaching conditions and teaching model based on artificial intelligence for improving primary English language learners’ global digital citizenship.
To achieve the purpose, prior teaching models such as the concept development model, the direct instruction model, the inquiry model, the problem-based learning model, the cooperative learning model, and the integrative model were analyzed because they are well-designed for learners to improve their global digital citizenship. The criteria of analyzing teaching models have been developed for assessing whether teaching conditions and characteristics of the models were established for learners to improve their global digital citizenship. It was found that the teaching models have common characteristics―surveying data related to learning goals, promoting critical thinking skills and creativity, fostering understanding and application of technology widely used in teaching, and arousing high motivation and involvement in classroom activities. Furthermore, the teaching models were reviewed in terms of AI, because AI is applications of software algorithms and techniques that enable learners to have ability of solving problems or completing tasks in communication and collaboration with classmates or speakers of different cultural backgrounds in classrooms. From the findings, it was suggested that a set of teaching conditions based on AI need to be considered in classrooms, and teaching model based on AI should be established for primary English language learners to improve their global digital citizenship.
