정신지체아 부모의 스트래스와 대처방식 (The Comparison of Stress and Way of Handling Between the Parents of Mentally-Retarded children and Normal Children.)

초록

본 연구는 정신지체아 부모들이 경험하는 정서적 스트레스와 대처방식, 신체증상을 알아보고 스트레스와 신체증상간의 관계에서 대처방식의 중제효과를 알아보는데 그 목적이 있다. 연구는 1999년 5월부터 7월까지 4개의 특수학교.4개의 초등학교에 재학중인 학생의 학부모를 대상으로 총 555명을 설문 조사 하였다. 연구의 사용도구는 한국판 상태-특성 분노 표현 척도(STACI-K), 다차원적 대처 척조(Multidimensional Coping Scale), 한국판 CES-D(Center for Epidemiologic Studies-Depression Scale), 신체증상척도 등 4가지의 척도를 사용하였다. 연구결과 정서적 스트레스와 관련해서는 정신지체아 부모는 상태분노, 특성분노 및 분노표출, 우울이 높았고 대처방식에서는 소극적 철수, 고집, 체념 및 자기비판에서 높았다. 신체증상에서는 불면증과 심장질환 증상이 심했으며 대처방식으로는 종교적 지원 추구가 두통에 대하여 효과적인 대처방식임을 시사하고 있으며, 적극적 망각, 자제, 긍정적 비교, 체념, 자기비판, 정서적 진정, 정서적 지원 추구가 불면증에 대하여 효과적인 대처방식임을 시사하고 있다. 또한 소극적 철수, 정서표출, 자제, 실질적 지원 추구, 정서적 지원 추구가 소화장애에 대하여 효과적인 대처방식임을 시사하고 있으며, 끝으로 심장 질환 증상에 대하여는 적극적 망각, 자제, 종교적 지원추구가 효과적인 대처방식임을 암시하고 있었다.
이상의 결과를 통하여 볼 때 정신지체아동들이 높은 수준의 정서적 스트레스와 비효과적인 대처방식을 사용하고 있는 부모로부터 부적인 영향을 받을 수 있음을 시사해주고 있다. 실제로 우울한 부모의 자녀들일수록 심리 사회적 기능에서 문제가 많이 발생하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 대부분의 정신지체아 부모들은 전반적으로 스트레스를 많이 경험하고 있음을 시사해주고 있다.

영어초록

The aim of this study is to see emotional stress, way of handling and body symptom as well as effect of the way of handling between stress and body symptom for the Parents of mentally-retarded children and general children.
In order to achieve this study, totally 555 Parents of students who are attending a school formentally-retarded children and a general elementary school, and the result is as follows.
First, for emotional stress, paients of mentally-retarded children are stronger a angry state, trait angerand anger-out than paients of general childien. Also parents of mentally-retarded children are stronger than parents of general children for gloominess.
These results imply that parents of mentally-retarded children have strongly experienced stress compared with parents of general children, as a result, have relatively experienced emotional stress.
Second, for the way of handling, Parents of mentally-retaided have showed stronger avoidance,stubbornness, renunciation and self-criticism compared with paients of general children.This result imply that Parents of mentally-retarded children have more used a way of ineffective handling than parents of general children.
Third, for body symptom, Parents of mentally-retarded children have experienced stronger sleeplessness, cardiac disorder than Parents of general children.
Fourth, for relationship between stress and body symptom, the Pursuit of religious wish showed reliably about headache. The trait anger, anger control, anger expression, Positive forgetfulness,self-control, Positive comParison, self-criticism, emotional Pacification and Pursuit of emotional wish showed reliably about sleePlessness. The angry state, trait anger, anger control, gloominess, negativeavoidance, emotional expression, self-control, Pursuit of Practical wish, and Pursuit of emotional wishshowed reliably about digestive trouble. Lastly, the angry state, gloominess, Positive for'getfulness,self-control and Pursuit of religious wish showed reliably about the symptom of cardiac disorder.
As above results, mentally-retarded children can be given negative effect from Parents who are usingthe emotional stress of high level and way of ineffective handling. Actually, children who have gloomy parents have showed much trouble in Psychological and social function. These results show that most Parents of mentally-retarded children have experienced more stress overall than parents of general children.
