洪良浩의 象數易 수용과 응용 양상 고찰 (A Study on Reception and Application of Xiangshu I-Ching by Hong Yang-ho)

초록

본 논문은 홍양호의 역학 이론서인 <易象翼傳>을 개괄하고 그가 실제로 주역점을 치고 기록한 「筮倫記」를 분석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 홍양호는 정조 시대 소론을 대표한 문인으로 알려져 있다. 하지만 홍양호는 문장가인 동시에 역학가이며, 그의 문학 이면에는 역학적인 면모가 내재되어 있었다.
그는 漢代 象數易을 수용하여 『주역』의 圖書, 괘상과 효사를 풀이하고 자신의 역학 이론을 <易象翼傳>에 정리하였다. 이는 『주역』의 심도 있는 이해와 더불어 정이와 주희의 주석에서 미비한 점을 보완하기 위해서였다. 홍양호는 후천팔괘가 천지의 用이기 때문에 끊임없이 유행하려면 오행의 순환론이 필요하다고 여겨 후천팔괘도를 오행도처럼 풀이하였다. 卦象과 爻辭의 풀이에는 五行과 物象과 互卦를 응용하여 一以貫之하는 정합성을 추구하였다. 주희가 미상이라고 남긴 점에 대해서도 고심하여 상세하게 논의를 전개한다. 이는 한대 상수역과 송대 도서 상수역이 배치되지 않음을 보여준다.
홍양호는 역학 이론만 수립한 것이 아니라, 주역점을 활용하여 실제로 어떤 백성의 친부를 찾아주고 그 전말을 문집에 남기기까지 하였는데, 그것이 바로 「서륜기」이다. 「서륜기」는 일기 자료에서 보여지는 단편적인 점술 기록이 아니라, 점을 치게 된 배경․점괘의 풀이․실제 증험의 세 단계로 자세하고 체계적으로 기록하였다. 또한 점괘의 풀이를 살펴보면 八宮卦說과 納甲說을 적용하고 효사들을 단장취의하여 점괘를 풀이하였음을 확인할 수 있었다. 이 「서륜기」는 조선시대에 주역점을 어떻게 활용했는지 살펴볼 수 있는 중요한 일례가 될 것이다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study was to overview <Yeoksang-ikjeon(易象翼傳)>, a theory textbook of the science of divination written by Hong Yang-ho and analyze the 「Seoryun-gi(筮倫記)」 based on his record of I-ching divination. Hong Yang-ho is knows as a literary man who represented the Soron Party during the King Jeongjo. However, Hong Yang-ho was both a writer and an divination scientist, and the divination aspect was inherent in his literature.
He accepted Xiangshu I-Ching(象數易) of the Han Dynasty, interpreted the Tushu(圖書), hexagrams(卦象), and filial piety from the 『Book of Changes』, and organized his theory of the science of divination in <Yeoksang-ikjeon>. This was to provide an in-depth understanding of the 『Book of Changes』 and to complement the insufficiencies in Cheng Yi and Zhu Xi's annotations. Hong Yang-ho interpreted the Later Heavenly Eight Trigrams are product of heaven and earth, believing that the theory of circulation of the Five Elements(五行) is necessary for them to continue to be popular, which made him interpreted Later Heavenly Eight Trigrams as the diagram of the Five Elements. In the interpretation of hexagrams and filial piety, he applied Five Elements, object(物象), and hidden indication(互卦) to pursue consistency for understanding everything as one principle(一以貫之). He also pays attention to the points that Zhu Xi left unknown and develops a detailed discussion. This shows that Xiangshu I-Ching of the Han Dynasty and Tushu Xiangshu I-Ching of the Song Dynasty are not opposed to each other.
Hong Yang-ho not only established the theory of science of divination, but also used I-ching divination to actually find the biological father of a certain person and left the full story in his anthology, 「Seoryun-gi」. The 「Seoryun-gi」 is not a fragmentary record of the I-ching divination shown in the diary data, but a detailed and systematic record consisting of three stages: the background, interpretation of the result, and actual proof. In addition, it was confirmed that the interpretation of the results was done by applying Eight Chambers Theory(八宮卦說) and Napgap Theory(納甲說) and quoting filial pieties to interpret the divination result. 「Seoryun-gi」 is considered to be an important example of the I-ching divination process of the Joseon Dynasty.
