초등수학 5학년 자연수의 혼합 계산 지도 고찰 (A Study on Teaching Mixed Calculations of Natural Numbers in 5th Grade Elementary Mathematics)

초록

본 연구는 초등수학에서 다루는 자연수의 혼합 계산을 주제로 하고 있다. 초등수학에서 수와 연산 영역 중 자연수는 4학년 1학기 <큰 수> 단원에서 완성되고, 그런 다음 자연수의 연산은 5학년 1학기 <자연수의 혼합 계산>에서 사칙연산을 모두 활용하여 혼합 계산의 순서를 익히는 것으로 제시되어 있다. 본 연구는 혼합 계산의 순서에 대한 이론적 고찰과 함께 2015 개정 교육과정에 따른 국정 교과서와 검정 교과서(10종)를 분석하여 <자연수의 혼합 계산> 단원 차시 구성과 계산 순서를 제시하는 방법에 대해 살펴본다. 이때 자연수의 혼합 계산에서 교과서에 제시된 계산 순서가 전형적인 예와 함께 유일하게 제시되는지 확인한다. 이와 함께 본 연구는 자연수의 혼합 계산과 관련된 교수학적 내용 지식 대해 예비교사와 현장교사가 이해하고 있는 수준을 살펴본다. 초등수학에서 혼합 계산을 지도하는 과정에서 계산 순서의 필요성, 곱셈이 덧셈보다 우선하는 이유, ‘앞에서부터 계산하기’에 적합하지 않는 문제 상황 등을 재고해봄으로써 이들의 교수학적 내용 지식에서의 혼합 계산에 대한 이해 정도를 살펴본다. 연구 결과 검정 교과서 모두 혼합 계산의 계산 순서에서 전형적인 예가 아닌 경우와 계산 순서가 유일하게 결정되지 않는 문제 상황이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또 예비교사와 현장교사 모두 혼합 계산 관련 교수학적 내용 지식이 관습적 규칙 수준에 있는데, 초등수학에서 자연수의 혼합 계산을 지도하기 위한 근본적인 질문에 답할 수 있는 내용 지식이 요구된다는 것을 확인할 수 있다.

영어초록

This study deals with the mixed calculation of natural numbers in elementary mathematics. In elementary mathematics, the area of ​​numbers and operations is completed in the unit <Large Numbers> in the 1st semester of the 4th grade, and then the operations of natural numbers are presented as learning the order of mixed calculations by utilizing all four arithmetic operations in <Mixed Calculation of Natural Numbers> in the 1st semester of the 5th grade. This study examines the theoretical consideration of the order of mixed calculations and the method of presenting the unit composition and calculation order of <Mixed Calculation of Natural Numbers> by analyzing the national textbooks and the certified textbooks(10 types) according to the revised 2015 curriculum. At this time, it is confirmed whether the calculation order presented in the textbook for mixed calculation of natural numbers is presented uniquely with typical examples. In addition, this study examines the level of understanding of pre-service and in-service teachers regarding the pedagogical content knowledges related to mixed calculation of natural numbers. In the process of teaching mixed calculations in elementary mathematics, we will examine the necessity of calculation order, the reason why multiplication takes precedence over addition, and problem situations that are not suitable for ‘calculating from the front’, thereby examining the level of understanding of mixed calculations in their pedagogical content knowledges. The results of the study showed that all of the certified textbooks had cases that were not typical examples of the calculation order of mixed calculations and problem situations where the calculation order was uniquely undetermined. In addition, both pre-service and in-service teachers had pedagogical content knowledges related to mixed calculations at the level of conventional rules, confirming that content knowledges that can answer fundamental questions for teaching mixed calculations of natural numbers in elementary mathematics is required.
