한국 드라마 속 대화 함축의 중국어 자막 번역 양상 연구 - 드라마 미생 을 중심으로 (A Study on Chinese Subtitle Translation Aspects of Conversation Implications in Korean Dramas - Focusing on the Drama “Misaeng”)

초록

이 논문의 목적은 의사소통 배양 능력을 갖추는데 꼭 필요한 요소인 Grice(1975)의 대화 함축 이론에 바탕을두고 실제 언어환경을 바탕으로 한 한국 드라마 속 대화 함축의 사용 양상을 살펴보는 동시에 한국 드라마의 중국어 번역에서 나타나는 대화 함축 번역 양상을 고찰하는 것이다. 연구 대상은 한국 드라마 미생 (3화)인데이것을 Grice(1975)의 대화 협동 원칙을 기반으로 드라마 속 대화문의 번역 양상을 대화 함축의 측면에서 양의격률, 질의 격률, 관련성의 격률, 태도의 격률로 나누어 분석해 보았다. 또한 전체 드라마 속 대화문에서 대화 함축이 차지하는 비중을 알아보고 함축의 출현 횟수와 빈도율을 분류 분석한 후 대화 함축의 실제적인 예들을 찾아제시하고 한국어 드라마 원문의 대화문이 중국어로 어떻게 번역되는지를 살펴보았다.
연구의 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 전반 드라마에서 네 가지 격률별 대화 함축을 위반한 대화문 발생 빈도율을살펴보면 양의 격률> 태도의 격률/ 관련성의 격률> 질의 격률 순으로 나타났다. 둘째, 대화 격률을 위반한 대화문은 중국어로의 번역에서 의역된 사례가 직역된 사례보다 많이 나타났다. 셋째, 실제 일상생활에서 대화를 함에 있어서 항상 네 가지 격률들이 각각 한 번씩 위반 되는 것이 아니라 두 가지 격률을 동시에 위반하는 경우도 있고세 가지 격률을 동시에 위반하는 경우도 있다. 넷째, 한국어 드라마 속 대화문은 어휘 사용이 풍부하였지만 반면에 중국어로 번역되었을 때에는 중국어 화자가 이해하기 쉽도록 간결하게 번역된 사례가 많이 나타났다. 다섯째, 한국 드라마 속 대화문에서 양의 격률의 두 번째 하위 격률과 태도의 격률 세 번째 하위 격률은 잉여적으로 나타났다는 것을 살펴볼 수 있다. 마지막으로, 대화 함축과 관련된 한국 드라마나 영화를 중국어로 번역할 때 번역가는 최대한 원문의 뜻을 시청자들에게 그래도 전하려면 직역보다는 의역을 할 필요가 있다. 또한 의역을 하는 과정에 번역가는 함축된 의미를 제대로 파악하기 어렵거나 잘못 이해할 수 있는 경우가 많은데, 최대한 오역으로 된번역을 피하기 위해 번역가들은 Grice(1975)의 대화 함축 이론에 대한 체계적인 학습이 필요할 것으로 보인다. 주로 이론에만 치중했던 기존의 대화 함축 관련 연구들과 달리 실제 언어 자료를 대상으로 분석하였다는 점에서 의의를 가질 뿐만 아니라 대화 격률을 위반한 한 중 드라마 속 대화문을 번역할 때 하나의 지침으로 수용되거나자막 번역의 양상에 관한 연구에 도움이 될 수 있다. 본 연구에 남은 문제가 있다면 번역가에 따라 취해지는 번연전략의 차이가 있을 것으로 간주된다는 점에서 향후에는 보다 폭 넓은 분야와 소재를 대상으로 그 속에서 나타나는 문화적 요소들이 어떠한 전략으로 번역되고 어떠한 차이를 가지는지 그 특징을 고찰해보는 것이 다음 과제라할 수 있겠다.

영어초록

The purpose of this thesis is to examine the use of dialogue connotation in Korean dramas based on the actual language environment based on Grice (1975)’s dialogue connotation theory, which is an essential element to acquire communication cultivating ability. It is to examine the aspect of dialogue-implicit translation appearing in Chinese translation. The subject of this study is the Korean drama <Misaeng> (3 episodes). Based on the dialogue cooperation principle of Grice (1975), the translation aspects of dialogues in the drama were analyzed in terms of quality, quantity, relation, and manner. We analyzed it by dividing it into a ratio. In addition, the proportion of dialogue implication in the dialogue text in the entire drama was investigated, the number and frequency of implied appearances were classified and analyzed, and practical examples of dialogue implied were found and presented, and how the dialogue of the original Korean drama was translated into Chinese.
The conclusion of the study is as follows. First, looking at the frequency of occurrence of dialogue sentences that violated the dialogue implications of each of the four maxims in the first half of the drama, the maxim of quantity > maxim of attitude/ maxim of relevance > maxim of quality was found. Second, as for dialogue sentences that violated the dialogue norm, there were more cases of paraphrasing in Chinese translation than cases of direct translation. Third, in conversation in real life, the four maxims are not always violated once, but two maxims are violated at the same time or three maxims are violated at the same time. Fourth, the dialogues in Korean dramas have abundant vocabulary, but on the other hand, when translated into Chinese, there are many cases of concise translations for Chinese speakers to understand easily.
Fifth, it can be seen that the second lower maxim of the positive maxim and the third sub maxim of the attitude appear redundantly in the dialogues in Korean dramas. Lastly, when translating Korean dramas or movies related to dialogue implications into Chinese, the translator needs to paraphrase rather than direct translation to convey the meaning of the original text to viewers as much as possible. In addition, in the process of paraphrasing, it is often difficult or misunderstood for translators to properly grasp the meaning of the meaning. In order to avoid translations with mistranslations as much as possible, it seems that translators need to systematically study Grice (1975)'s theory of dialogue implication. Unlike the previous studies on dialogue implications, which focused mainly on theory, it is significant in that it analyzes real language data as well as accepts it as a guideline when translating dialogues in Korean-Chinese dramas that violate the dialogue norm. Or it can be helpful in research on aspects of subtitle translation. Given that the remaining problems in this study are considered to be different strategies taken by translators, the next task is to examine the characteristics of the cultural elements that appear in a wider range of fields and materials in the future.
