서사민요와 사설시조 속 젠더 인식의 차이와 성적 대상화의 문제 (Differences in Gender Perception and Problems of Sexual Objectification in Korean Folk Narrative Songs and Sasul-Sijo)

초록

서사민요와 사설시조는 작자층과 향유층, 그리고 향유공간과 분위기에서부터차이가 있으며, 이 때문에 여성에 대한 인식에도 차이가 있다. 본고는 이 젠더 인식의 차이가 어떻게 성적 대상화의 문제로도 이어지는지를 살펴보았다. 이를 위해서 본고는 유사한 주제와 소재를 공유하는 서사민요와 사설시조 작품들을 선별하여 분석하였다.
본고는 서사민요와 사설시조를 크게 여성의 몸에 대한 주체적 인식과대상화, 성기 장사에 대한 긍정과 희화화의 공존, 하룻밤 잠자리에 대한인식 차이 등 세 개의 주제를 중심으로 비교 분석하였다. 며느리가 물건을 깨뜨리자 시댁 식구들이 그 물건 값을 물어오라고 요구하는 <양동가마>에서는 시집살이를 겪는 여성의 한을 달래주었다. 반면 해동가요 박씨본 395번 시조에서는 시집살이를 힘들어하는 여성을 풍자할 뿐이었다. 성기 장사를 소재로 삼은 서사민요와 사설시조 간에도 차이가 나타났다. <송과부 노래>에서는 여성의 진솔한 욕망을 드러내는 반면, <댁드레>류 사설시조에서는 성기를 사고 파는 평민 남성 및 여성 모두가 사대부 남성의 웃음거리가 된다. 한편 남성과 여성의 하룻밤 잠자리를 다룬 서사민요와 사설시조 간에도 차이가 있었다. 서사민요에서는 하룻밤잠자리조차도 그리운 사랑으로 승화시킨다면, 사설시조에서는 성적 쾌락을 다시 가질 수 없다는 음란한 욕정으로 표현된다. 심지어 현대의 남성이 가창한 민요에서는 이 경향은 그대로 이어진다.
서사민요와 사설시조 간 젠더 인식이 나타나는 가장 큰 이유는 작자층, 향유층, 향유공간과 분위기의 차이 때문이었다. 서사민요와 사설시조 간의 젠더 인식 차이는 평민 대 사대부인 계급 차이의 영향도 없지는 않았다. 하지만 이 젠더 인식 차이가 현대로까지 이어진다는 점은 이 젠더 인식 차이가 시대와 계급을 넘어서 성별에 근거한, 근본적인 문제였음을 알려준다. 유사한 소재와 주제를 공유함에도 불구하고 서사민요와 사설시조 간에 드러나는 차이는 젠더가 문학의 성격을 규정하는 본질임을 확인해주는 셈이다.

영어초록

Korean Folk Narrative Songs and Sasul-Sijo are different from the writer class, the enjoyment class, and the space and atmosphere to enjoy, and for this reason, there is a difference in the perception of women. This thesis analyzed how this difference in gender perception leads to the problem of sexual objectification. For this purpose, this thesis selected Korean Folk Narrative Songs and Sasul-Sijo works that share similar themes.
This thesis compared and analyzed Korean Folk Narrative Songs and Sasul-Sijo mainly on three themes: subjective perception and objectification of women's bodies, coexistence of affirmations and caricatures about selling male’s penis, and differences in perceptions of one night's sleep. When the daughter-in-law broke an item, Yangdonggama, in which the in-laws demanded that the price of the item be returned, soothed a woman suffering from marriage. On the other hand, Sasul-Sijo that shares themes with the Yangdonggama satirizes women who are having a hard time getting married.
There was also a difference between Korean Folk Narrative Songs and Sasul-Sijo, which took the story of selling male’s penis. In Song of widow Song, the sincere desires of women are revealed, while in the Sasul-Sijo of Dakdre, both common men and women who buy and selling male’s penis become the laughing stock of male and noble class. On the other hand, there was also a difference between Korean Folk Narrative Songs and Sasul-Sijo, which dealt with the sleeping of men and women overnight. In Korean Folk Narrative Songs, even sleeping overnight is sublimated into nostalgic love, but in the private sijo, it is expressed as a lewd lust that cannot have sexual pleasure again. Even in folk songs sung by modern men, this trend continues.
The biggest reason for the gender perception between Korean Folk Narrative Songs and Sasul-Sijo was the difference between the writer class, the enjoyment class, the space to enjoy, and the atmosphere. The gender perception difference between Korean Folk Narrative Songs and Sasul-Sijo were not without the influence of the class difference between commoners and noble class. However, the fact that this gender perception gap continues to the present day shows that this gender perception gap was a fundamental problem that transcended time and class and was based on gender. Despite sharing similar themes and themes, the differences between Korean Folk Narrative Songs and Sasul-Sijo confirm that gender is the essence that defines the character of literature.
