초록

본 논고는 급변하는 다양한 문화적 상황 속에서 한국교회가 당면한 교육적 과제를 검토하고 반성하는 토대를 마련할 뿐 아니라 앞으로 교회학교 교육이 추구해야 할 방향성을 다루고자 한다. 그 동안 한국사회는 점차 다문화화 되는 환경 속에서 개인은 그들만의 문화와 각기 다른 의견과 가치관을 갖게 되었고, 동시에 그들의 필요도 변해가고 있다. 이러한 다양한 문화적 배경을 갖고 있는 개인에게 교회교육은 그리스도인으로서의 정체성을 세워줄 필요가 있다.
따라서 본 논고는 다문화 환경에 처한 한국의 교회학교 교육에 대해 중점적으로 다룸으로서, 교회교육을 통한 그리스도인의 정체성 확립의 필요성에 대해 논하려 한다. 또한, 지역 사회의 필요와 개교인들의 필요를 알고 어떻게 이에 반응해야 할 것인지를 다룸으로서 다문화 환경 속에 속한 지역 교회의 문화와 환경을 재해석하고 개교회학교의 변화를 모색하는데 도움을 줄 수 있을 것이다.
본 논고는 먼저 교회에 속한 개인에게 있어서 교육에서의 문화의 의미를 살펴보고, 덧붙여 개인이 속한 교회학교에서의 교육과 문화와의 관계를 살펴봄으로서 교회학교가 추구해야 할 교육구조에 대해 살펴볼 것이다. 이를 근거로 교회학교의 교육에 대해 평가하고, 오늘날 다양화된 문화적인 상황 속에서 교회학교가 추구해야 할 교회학교 교육의 방향성을 논하고자 한다.

영어초록

There is no single word that can adequately characterize the nature of the diverse cultural situation in Korean church today. Congregations are interdependent. However, mutual dependence does not ensure mutual trust, the necessary basis of effective cultural relations. Only deep understanding, respect, equality of status, and personal security can do that. Arnold Toynbee correctly observed, "Human beings have had six thousand years to become strangers to one another, and now we have hardly any time at all for learning the most difficult part of dwelling together in unity."This paper denotes cultivated openness to cultural diversity; how churches respond to cultural differences is crucial to the formation of a multi-cultural curriculum in education of Church schools. Are cultural differences something church members avoid discussing or do these differences embrace potential gifts to enrich the faith community? Do members find cultural differences merely interesting or do they expect to discover important insights, values and attitudes in the culture and the religious practices of other Christians that may deepen their own practice of the Christian life? Does openness to cultural diversity stop at the intellectual level or does it extend to one's attitudes, emotions, and behaviors as well?All these concerns revealed in this paper can increase your curiosity.
This paper is of particular interest to those concerned with multi-cultural education in Church schools. Nowadays, the local Church school needs to establish its identity as the core element. It needs to know the needs of the society and congregations as the tangents of the local church school. So-called tangents are precisely what the atmosphere and culture of the local Church school are about. The recognition which bridges the concepts of core and tangents can help to determine the purpose of the local Church school. Also, it can help to pursue the transformation of the local Church school by reinterpreting the atmosphere and culture of the local church in the multi-cultural society.
