취업용 자기소개서 지도방안 연구 (A Study on Teaching Method of Self-introduction for Employment)

초록

이 논문의 목적은 취업용 자기소개서가 자기 탐색적 글쓰기와 설득적(논증적) 글쓰기가 결합된 장르라는 사실과 이러한 장르적 특성을 고려한 과정 중심의 자기소개서 지도방안을 모색하는 것이다. 또한 취업용 자기소개서가 내용적인 측면에서 자기 탐색적 성격을 띠고 있을지라도, 근본적으로 글쓴이가 인사담당자에게 자신이 지원하는 회사/직무에 가장 적합한 인재라는 사실을 설득하기 위한 논증형식에 기반하고 있다는 사실을 고찰하는 것이다. 이는 교수자가 설득적(논증적) 글쓰기를 지도하는 과정에서 취업용 자기소개서를 지도하는 과정으로 확장시킬 수 있다는 것을 의미한다.
이를 위해서, 먼저 취업준비생으로 볼 수 있는 3～4학년을 대상으로 하여 글쓰기 특강에 대한 수요(요구), 영역별(내용/구성/규범) 글쓰기 능력에 대한 설문조사를 실시하였다. 이는 학생들의 수요와 특수성을 고려한 취업용 자기소개서 지도방안을 모색하기 위한 기초조사라고 볼 수 있다. C대학 3～4학년을 대상(총 245명. 인문계열 57명, 이공계열 97명, 예체능계열 91명)으로 한 설문조사 결과, 취업준비생이라는 특성상 다양한 글쓰기 장르 중에서는 취업용 소개서 등과 같은 실용적 글쓰기의 필요성을 크게 인식하고 있었고, 영역별(내용/구성/규범) 글쓰기 능력 중에서는 내용영역(주제선정/논거제시)에 가장 취약하다는 사실을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 설문결과는 글쓰기 관련 교과과정 내에서 중요한 장르로서 다루어지고 있는 설득적(논증적) 글쓰기와 실용적 글쓰기(취업용 자기소개서)를 통합적으로 지도할 필요가 있다는 사실을 보여주는 의미 있는 지표라고 볼 수 있다.
이 논문에서는 취업용 자기소개서가 내용상으로 자기 탐색적인 특징을 띠고 있지만, 설득적(논증적) 글쓰기이기 때문에 논증방식(주장+논거제시)에 기반하고 있다는 사실을 고려하여 과정 중심의 자기소개서 지도방안을 제안하였다. 그리고 이러한 자기소개서 지도방안은 일반적인 설득적(논증적) 글쓰기와 취업용 자기소개서가 내용상 상당한 차이점이 존재한다는 사실을 반영한 것이기도 하다. 일반적인 설득적(논증적) 글쓰기가 화제의 제한이 없는 반면에, 자기소개서는 4개의 질문항목(① 성장과정 ② 성격의 장단점 ③ 회사/직무 지원동기 ④ 입사 후 포부) 위주로 기술된다는 측면에서, 내용이 매우 제한적이다. 또한 글의 논증방식의 측면에서도 다소 차이점이 존재한다. 설득적(논증적) 글쓰기가 주장에 대한 논거로서 예시, 분석, 비교, 인용, 비유, 묘사 등을 활용하지만, 자기소개서는 자기 탐색적 글쓰기라는 특성상 주로 개인의 특정한 경험이 예시(사례)로 활용된다.
이와 같이 취업용 자기소개서는 내용적인 측면에서 볼 때 자기 탐색적 글쓰기이며, 논리적 구조의 측면에서 볼 때 설득적(논증적) 글쓰기라고 볼 수 있다. 그러므로 자기소개서에 대한 교육은 글쓰기센터 혹은 글쓰기 교실에서 개설되는 일회성 특강이나 첨삭지도에 의해 이루어지기보다는 <글쓰기> 관련 과목의 교과과정 내에서 설득적(논증적) 글쓰기 교육의 연장선상에서 이루어지는 것이 바람직하다고 생각한다.

영어초록

This paper presented the fact that self-introduction for employment is a genre combining self-exploratory writing and persuasive (demonstrative) writing and a self-introduction teaching method focusing on a process considering these genre characteristics. We also reviewed the fact that self-introduction for employment is based on a demonstration format in terms of the writer persuades a human resources officer that he is a talent who is the most suitable for the company/job despite its self-exploratory nature in the context aspect. This means that a teacher can expand the process of teaching persuasive (demonstrative) writing to the process of teaching self-introduction for employment.
For this purpose, first, a survey on demand (requirement) for writing lecture and area –specific (contents / configuration / rules) writing skills was conducted targeting juniors and seniors that can be regarded as job seekers. This can be seen as basic research to explore a self-introduction for employment teaching method considering the demand and distinctiveness of students. According to the results of the survey targeting juniors and seniors of C University (A total of 245 people. humanities 57 people, engineering 97 people, arts and physical education 91 people), they greatly recognized the need for practical writing such as for a letter of introduction for employment among various writing genres due to the nature of job seekers and are the most vulnerable to the content area (selecting a topic /presenting basis of an argument) among area–specific (contents / configuration / rules) writing skills. These survey results can be seen as a meaningful indicator of the fact that it is necessary to comprehensively teach persuasive (demonstrative) writing and practical writing(self-introduction for employment) treated as important genres in the writing curriculum.
Given the fact that self-introduction for employment basically uses a demonstration method(presenting argument+basis of the argument) as a descriptive strategy due to its nature of persuasive (demonstrative) writing, this paper proposed a process-centered self-introduction teaching method. And this self-introduction teaching method also reflects the fact that there is a substantial difference between general persuasive (demonstrative) writing and self-introduction for employment in contents. The contents are very limited in that general persuasive (demonstrative) writing has no limitation on topics while self-introduction is described around four questions (① growth process ② advantages and disadvantages of personality ③ reason for application for company / job ④ aspirations after joining the company). There are also some differences in terms of the demonstration method of writing. Although persuasive (demonstrative) writing example, analysis comparison, quotation, metaphor, depiction as the grounds for claims, self-introduction has the nature of the self-exploratory writing in contents so the individual's specific experiences are used as an example (case).
As shown above, self-introduction for employment can be seen to be self-exploratory writing in the content aspect and persuasive (demonstrative) writing in terms of a logical structure. Therefore, we think that it is preferable to teach self-introduction as an extension of persuasive (demonstrative) writing education in the curriculum of <writing> related subjects rather than being carried out by one time lectures or correction opened in writing center or writing classroom.
