>본 연구에서는 전국 유치원 및 어린이집 등에 소속된 만 4～5세 유아 312명을 대상으로, 정서행동장애 진단도구인 BASC 중 4～5세 유아들을 위한 부모평정척도의 국내 타당도와 신뢰도를 알아보고, 한국 유아와 미국 유아의 차이점, F Index 문항과 단독문항에서 이상이 나타나는 사례수 및 수정이 요구되는 문항을 알아보았다. 연구결과, 도구의 내적 일치도는 비교적 높게 나타났으나, 검사자간 신뢰도에서는 낮게 나타났다. BASC의 각 하위 척도들은 복합 척도에서 서로간 상관도가 높게 나타났고, 공격성, 불안, 우울, 위축 등에서 또한 복합척도에서 K-CBCL과의 상관도가 높게 나타났다. 한국 유아와 미국 유아의 백분위 점수별로 비교해 본 결과, 한국 유아가 미국 유아에 비해 사회적 기술 척도에서 상대적으로 낮은 점수를 나타내 보였으며, 사회적 기술 척도에서 이상으로 표기되는 경우가 많았다. 4～5세 유아용 BASC 부모평정척도는 국내 유아의 정서 및 행동장애를 진단하는데 있어 비교적 적합하다고 할 수 있으나 사회 문화적 척도의 문항은 수정이 필요한 것으로 보인다.검색어: 정서.행동장애, 진단.평가, 부모평정척도, 유아특수교육

영어초록

This study was conducted as a preliminary standardization to facilitate the development of a Korean version of the Behavior Assessment System for Children (BASC): Parent Rating Scale-Preschool (PRS-P). Specifically, this study addressed research questions concerning the validity and reliability of the instrument and the differences between Korean and American children in behavior characteristics demonstrated through test scores. Three hundred and twelve children (166 boys and 146 girls) between the ages of 4 and 5 were randomly sampled from public and private kindergartens across the nation. The BASC consists of 10 subscales with 131 test items.
The results of the research are as follows: First, the coefficient alpha, internal consistency, for each of the BASC PRS subscales and composites were found be between .64 and .82. Reliability for the scales, based on inter-rater correlations, were found to be between .18 to .70. The reliability was relatively low except in the areas of Social Skills, Depression, Somatization, and Withdrawal.
Second, the correlations among composites and subscales were found to be .70s and .90s. In addition, there were significant correlations between the BASC and Korea Child Behavior Checklist (K-CBCL) measures, demonstrating high concurrent validity. In particular, the same subscales of Aggression, Anxiety, and Withdrawal of the two instruments demonstrated high correlations, ranging from .50s to .60s.
Third, the Korean preschoolers demonstrated lower scores than the American preschoolers in the area of Social Skills. It is suggested that the Social Skills scale be modified to consider cultural differences during development of the Korea BASC.
The primary limitation of this study are that the sample size was too small, and children in the cities are better represented than children from rural areas.
