4, 5세 다문화가정 아동의 화용능력 연구 (A Study on Vocabulary and Pragmatic Competence of 4, 5 years old children of multicultural Family)

초록

본 연구는 생활연령이 4세와 5세인 다문화가정 아동 각각 10명과 생활연령이 동일한 비다문화가정 아동 각각 10명을 대상으로 가정유형(다문화가정, 비다문화가정) 및 연령 (4세, 5세)에 따른 어휘능력 및 화용능력의 차이와 다문화가정 아동의 어휘능력과 화용 능력의 상관관계를 알아보았다. 연구 결과, 첫째, 가정유형 및 연령에 따라 수용어휘력과 표현어휘력, 화용언어능력과 화용비언어능력에 유의미한 차이가 나타났다. 둘째, 다문화가정 아동의 수용어휘력, 표현어휘력, 화용언어, 화용비언어능력의 관계는 모두 유의하게 나타 났는데 이는 어휘능력과 화용능력의 밀접한 관련성을 보여주는 것이라고 할 수 있다. 셋째, 다문화가정 아동의 수용, 표현 어휘력과 화용능력 하위문항과의 관계는 수용어휘력보다 표현 어휘력에서 더 많은 상관이 나타났고 화용언어 하위문항이 수용, 표현 어휘력과 유의함을 보였다. 이 연구는 4세, 5세 다문화가정 및 비다문화가정 아동의 어휘능력과 화용능력이 서로 상관이 있으며 각각의 능력의 양상 및 상관관계를 제시한 것에 의의가 있다고 할 수 있다.

영어초록

This study examined the correlation of vocabulary and pragmatic language competence by family type (multicultural family and non-multicultural family) and age (age 4 and age 5). The study was made to 10 children of age 4 and 5 from multicultural family and 10 children of age 4 and 5 from non-multicultural family. The results are as below.
First, there was a significant difference in vocabulary and pragmatic competence of children by family type and age. The difference of vocabulary became reduced when age level increases. and there was a significant difference in pragmatic language competence and pragmatic nonlanguage competence of children by family type and age. For pragmatic nonlanguage competence, the difference was not that huge for age 4, but was expanded at age 5. This seems because of frequent use of nonlanguage communication means to complement skill-less language use of children from multicultural family.
Second, there was a significant difference in receptive vocabulary, expressive vocabulary, pragmatic language competence and pragmatic nonlanguage competence of children. This seems to demonstrate the close relevancy of vocabulary and pragmatic competence.
Third, the relation of subsection between receptive vocabulary, expressive vocabulary and pragmatic competence of children from multicultural family had more significance in more subsection. This shows the significance of subsection of pragmatic language on receptive and expressive vocabulary.
It is believed that the significance of this study lies in the suggestion of the feature and correlation between vocabulary and pragmatic competence of children of age 4 and 5 from multicultural family and non-multicultural family. If a standard on the pragmatic competence of children is prepared based on this study result that examined the communication problem of children from the multicultural family from the correlation between vocabulary and pragmatic competence, it is expected that this study can be used as the foundation data for the suggestion of a plan to determine and select the problem of initial pragmatic competence of children earlier.
