The Study on Cultural Dynamics of Appearance and Dispersal of Modern Human of Initial Upper Paleolithic in Northeast Asia

Various studies and arguments have been conducted on the modern men from the IUP spread in many regions in North and Northeast Asia. Among them, here are two major opinions; One is to define Siberia as the starting point of dispersal.
The other is to define the origin of IUP as Central Asia, and the dispersal occurred as a result of long distance movement. The early characteristics of various blade tool making skills found in Altai show the features of “origin effect” very well.
Though it may be too early to conclude that these features are limited to Altai region, there is no objection in such findings. To suggest other region as the origin of IUP, the technical complex of that region must be verified. Different industries of IUP was dispersed widely through Northeast Asia and each of them could be settled based on the local stone and resources for living. Meanwhile, the stone tool industry of previous humans before modern men in Northeast Asia had some regional characteristics that have no relation to the fusion of Levallois technique and blade tool producing technique but went through the traditional period of IUP. These several regions in Asian continent have abundant characteristics which cannot be explained by traditional IUP concepts any longer. Therefore, new IUP concepts should include the migration of humans and all formation process of regional industry of Upper Paleolithic through the transition of Middle to Upper Paleolithic and then be divided into different cultural areas and variants. If IUP concepts are defined from this perspective as a 'Three IUP Variants Model', it will be much easier to understand the hybridization and division of various technological systems of stone tool making and their settlement process, which appeared in each region in the Middle to Upper Paleolithic transition and in the EUP.
