초록

섬은 쉼과 휴식의 공간으로, 근래에는 국내외의 섬에 대한 관심이 증가하고 있다. 섬 관광의 매력요인인 아름다운 해양환경, 신선한 수산물, 독특하고 이국적인 자연ㆍ문화적 특징은 지속적으로 관광객을 유입시키는 요인으로 작용한다. 이는 섬의 접근성 개선에 따른 관광목적지화, 자연 중심형 관광지로의 관광행태 전환, 자연환경을 통해 휴식과 회복을 추구하는 치유의 사회 트렌드화에서 기인한다. 자연환경을 기반으로 하는 활동은 주의회복이론을 적용한 선행연구를 통해 인간의 긍정적 정서 회복에 유의한 효과를 미치는 것으로 나타났다.
그러나 그린 스페이스와 블루 스페이스의 복합 공간인 섬의 자원을 기반으로 하는 회복환경에 대한 국내 연구는 미흡한 실정이다. 인간은 회복의 주체이며, 자연에 기반한 목적지는 회복에 필요한 자원을 제공한다. 회복의 결과뿐 아니라 과정에 대한 이해를 위해 회복환경 연구는 회복환경을 추구하는 행동도 연구범위에 포함되어야 할 것이다. 회복환경 연구는 행동을 설명하는 주요 선행변수에 대한 연구가 수반되어야 함을 시사한다. 본 연구는 회복의 결과와 과정적 측면에 대한 이해를 위해 관광행동의 선행변수인 관광동기와 회복환경 간의 관계성을 연구문제로 제시하였다. 이를 통해 국내 섬 관광의 발전을 위한 이론적 의의와 실무적 시사점을 제시하였다.
이에 따라 본 연구는 국내 섬 관광객을 대상으로 관광동기와 회복환경지각의 영향관계를 실증 분석하였다. 그 첫 번째 단계로, 문헌검토와 선행연구를 통해 관광동기와 회복환경지각의 개념 및 구성요인을 도출하여 측정변수를 추출하였다. 설문조사는 온·오프라인 방식으로 최근 1년 내 섬 관광 경험자를 대상으로 240명에게 수집하였다. 유효표본의 실증분석은 빈도분석, 타당도·신뢰도 분석, pearson 상관관계 분석, 독립표본 t-검정, 일원배치분산분석을 수행하였다. 본 연구결과, 추진동기(지식확장, 신기성, 휴식, 유대감), 유인동기(자연환경, 시설 및 접근성, 원시성, 미식), 회복환경지각(매력성, 짜임새, 벗어남, 적합성, 이해 용이성)은 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 인구통계학적 특성(성별, 여행 기간)에 따라 회복환경지각에 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 섬 관광동기 간의 관계, 관광동기 유형에 따른 섬의 회복환경지각을 파악하는 학문적 기초자료로 활용될 수 있다는 점에서 이론적 의의를 찾을 수 있다. 실무적 시사점으로 섬 관광 시장 세분화 자료 개발의 기초자료 제공에 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

Islands are a place of rest and relaxation, and interest in islands at home and abroad has increased in recent years. The attractive factors of island tourism, such as the beautiful marine environment, fresh marine products, and unique and exotic natural and cultural features, act as factors that continuously attract tourists. This is due to the transformation of the island into a tourist destination due to improved accessibility, the conversion of tourism behavior to a nature-centered tourist destination, and the social trend of healing through seeking rest and recovery in the natural environment. Activities based on the natural environment have been shown to have a significant effect on the recovery of human positive emotions through previous studies applying the attention recovery theory.
However, domestic research on the recovery environment based on the resources of the island, which is a complex space of green and blue space, is insufficient. Humans are the subject of recovery, and destinations based on nature provide the resources needed for recovery. In order to understand the process as well as the results of recovery, research on the restorative environment should include the behavior of pursuing the restorative environment in the scope of the research. Studies on major antecedent variables that explain behaviors, according to restorative environment studies, should be accompanied. This study presented the relationship between travel motivation, which is an antecedent variable of tourism behavior, and the restorative environment as a research question to understand the outcome and process of recovery. Through this, the theoretical significance and practical implications for the development of domestic island tourism were presented.
Accordingly, this study conducted an empirical analysis of the relationship between travel motivation and perceived restorative environments targeting domestic island tourists. As the first step, the concept and component factors of travel motivation and perceived restorative environments were derived through a literature review and previous research, and measurement variables were extracted. The survey was collected online and offline from 240 people who had experienced island travel within the past year. For the empirical analysis of the effective sample, frequency analysis, validity and reliability analysis, Pearson's correlation analysis, an independent sample t-test, and a one-way analysis of variance were performed. The results of the study show that there is a correlation between push motivation (knowledge expansion, novelty, relaxation, bonding), pull motivation (natural environment, facilities and accessibility, primitiveness, gastronomy), and perceived restorative environments (fascination, coherence, being away, compatibility, legibility). In addition, it was found that there was a difference in the perceived restorative environment according to demographic characteristics (gender, travel period). The theoretical significance of this study can be found in the fact that it can be used as basic academic data to understand the relationship between island travel motivation and the perceived restorative environment of islands based on travel motivation type. As a practical implication, it is to provide basic data for the development of island travel market segmentation data.
