초록

이수광은 『지봉유설』을 편찬하면서 가독성을 해치는 유서의 잡박성을 해결하기 위하여 지식의 경량화 기법을 고안하였다. 지식의 경량화기법 중 하나는 인용 출전을 단순화하는 것으로, ‘소설’, ‘패사’와 같은 범칭으로 상당수 서명을 대체하였다. 그는 『지봉유설』의 인용 문헌을 육경․소설․문집으로 3대분하고, 자신의 『지봉유설』도 소설의 범주로 귀속시켰다. 그리고 ‘소설’은 ‘견문을 넓히고 典故 사실을 고증하는 자료’라고 의미를 부여하였다. 이수광은 재인용 출전보다는 원출전을 중시하였다. 따라서 『지봉유설』에서 소설이나, 패사․패설로 범칭한 문헌을 고증할 때는 원출전을 규명하는 것이 중요하다.
『지봉유설』에서 ‘소설’로 범칭한 것은 총 109회이다. 소설로 지칭하고 직접 인용한 문헌으로서 가장 많은 것은 총 9회의 『堯山堂外紀』이다. 그 뒤를 이어 『說郛』와 『山堂肆考』가 총 3회이다. 『夢溪筆談』․『韻府群玉』․『張太岳先生文集』․『淸波雜志』는 각각 총 2회 소설로 지칭하였다. 그것들을 포함하여 직접 인용한 것으로 파악되는 문헌은 총 23종이다.
소설로 지칭하고 재인용이 2회인 문헌은 『談撰』․『唐國史補』․『遯齋閒覽』․『泊宅編』․『酒譜』․『樂府雜錄』 6종이다. 그것들은 모두 『說郛』에서 재인용된 것으로 보인다. 소설로 지칭하고 재인용이 1회인 문헌은 총 28종이다.
‘소설’로 범칭한 문헌 중 실제로 가장 많이 인용된 것은 『說郛』로 29～36회이다. 두 번째는 『堯山堂外紀』로 총 9회이다. 3～5회 인용된 문헌은 『古今事文類聚』이며, 3회 인용된 문헌은 『山堂肆考』․『韻府群玉』․『天中記』이다. 2회 인용된 문헌은 『夢溪筆談』․『升菴集』․『詩話總龜』․『張太岳先生文集』․『淸波雜志』․『太平廣記』이다. 기타 1회씩 인용된 문헌은 총 19종이다. 그리고 인용 출전 미상이 총 19회이다.
‘패사’로 범칭한 것은 총 64회이다. 그리고 패사 이외에 패설이나 잡기․잡설로 범칭한 것도 있으니, 패설이 2회, 雜記와 雜說이 총 5회이다. ‘패사’로 범칭한 문헌 중 가장 많은 것은 『說郛』로 총 10회이다. 그 뒤를 잇는 것은 楊愼의 저작으로 총 11회이다. 다음은 『菽園雜記』로 총 4회이다. 2회 패사로 범칭하고 직접 인용한 문헌은 『山堂肆考』․『演繁露』․『堯山堂外紀』․洪邁의 저작(『容齋三筆』․『容齋續筆』)․『推篷寤語』 6종이다. 기타 1회 패사로 범칭하고 직접 인용한 문헌은 16종이다. 그리고 인용 출전 미상이 총 11회이다.

Lee Su-gwang devised a lightweight technique of knowledge to solve the incoherence of encyclopedias that harm readability, while compiling the 『Jibong- yuseol(芝峯類說)』. One of the lightweight technique of knowledge is to simplify quoted sources, replacing the title of a book with a general title such as ‘Soseol(小說)’ or ‘Paesa(稗史)’. He divided the quoted literatures of 『Jibongyuseol』 into three categories: Yukgyeong, Soseol, and Literary Collections, and put his own 『Jibongyuseol』 into the category of Soseol. In addition, ‘Soseol’ was given meaning as ‘a material that broaden the knowledge and prove the fact of an authentic precedent’. Lee Su-gwang put more emphasis on the original source rather than requoted source. Therefore, it is important to clarify the original source, when ascertaining the literature generally referred to as Soseol or Paesa or Paeseol(稗說) in the 『Jibongyuseol』.
A total of 109 times are generally referred to as ‘Soseol’ in 『Jibongyuseol』. As a literature referred to as Soseol and quoted directly, the most is a total of 9 times of 『Yosandang-oegi(堯山堂外紀)』. Following that, there are a total of 3 times of 『Seolbu(說郛)』 and 『Sandangsago(山堂肆考)』. 『Monggye-pildam(夢溪筆談)』, 『Unbugunog(韻府群玉)』, 『Jangtaeagseonsaengmunjib(張太岳先生文集)』 and 『Ceongpajabji(淸波雜志)』 were referred to as Soseol, a total of 2 times, respectively. Including them, a total of 23 types of literature are found to be directly quoted.
There are 6 types of literature that are referred to as Soseol, and requoted 2 times: 『Damchan(談撰)』, 『Danggugsabo(唐國史補)』, 『Dunjaehanlam(遯齋閒覽)』, 『Bagtaegpyeon(泊宅編)』, 『Jubo(酒譜)』 and 『Agbujablog(樂府雜錄)』. All of them seem to be requoted from 『Seolbu(說郛)』. There are a total of 28 types of literature that are referred to as Soseol and requoted one time.
Among the literatures generally referred to as ‘Soseol’, the most actually quoted is 『Seolbu(說郛)』, which is 29～36 times. The second is the 『Yosandang- oegi(堯山堂外紀)』, which is a total of 9 times. The literature quoted 3～5 times is 『Gogeumsamunyuchwi(古今事文類聚)』, and the literatures quoted 3 times are 『Sandangsago(山堂肆考)』, 『Unbugunog(韻府群玉)』 and 『Cheonjung-gi(天中記)』. The literatures quoted 2 times are 『Monggye-pildam(夢溪筆談)』, 『Seungamjib(升菴集)』, 『Sihwachonggu(詩話總龜)』, 『Jangtaeagseonsaengmunjib(張太岳先生文集)』, 『Ceongpajabji(淸波雜志)』 and 『Taepyeonggwanggi(太平廣記)』. Above this, there are a total of 19 types of literature quoted one time. And there are a total of 19 times unknown quoted source.
A total of 64 times are generally referred to as ‘Paesa’. In addition to the Paesa, there are general titles such as Paeseol, Jabgi(雜記) or Jabseol(雜說), so 2 times of Paeseol and a total of 5 times of Jabgi and Jabseol. The literature that are referred to as Paesa 2 times and directly quoted are 6 types of literature: 『Sandangsago(山堂肆考)』, 『Yeonbeonlo(演繁露)』, 『Ytosandang-oegi(堯山堂外紀)』 and Hong-mae(洪邁)’s works 『Yongjaesampil(容齋三筆)』, 『Yongjaesogpil(容齋續筆)』, 『Chubongoeo(推篷寤語)』. Besides, there are 16 types of literature that are referred to as Paesa one time, and quoted directly. And there are a total of 11 times unknown quoted source.
