외국인 유학생의 학업만족도에 미치는 영향 요인 분석 (Analysis of Factors Influencing the Academic Satisfaction of Foreign International Students)

초록

심각한 저출산 현상과 학령인구 감소로 인해 많은 대학들이 유학생들을 적극적으로 유치하면서 생존경쟁을 하고 있는 실정이다. 이에 최근 교육부가 또 글로벌 교육선도국가 실현을 위한 ‘유학생 교육경쟁력 제고 방안(Study Korea 300K Project)’을 발표했고 2027년까지 30만 유학생을 유치해 세계 10대 유학강국으로의 도약을 목표로 삼았다.
갈수록 열악해지고 있는 대학 재정 여건을 조금이나마 개선하고자 각 대학들은 다양한 방식으로 유학생을 유치하고 있고 그 유학생들의 중도 이탈을 최소화 시키고 한국에서 잘 정착할 수 있도록 많은 지원프로그램을 제공하고 있다. 본 연구는 효율적인 외국인 유학생 교육시스템을 구축하는데 참고가 될 수 있도록 C대학 외국인 유학생들의 대학생활적응에 영향을 미치는 학업만족도와 전공교육, 교양교육 그리고 비교과프로그램을 연구 변수로 설정하고 각 요인 간 미치는 영향을 알아보았다. 그 결과, 교양교육이 학업만족도에 유의미한 영향을 미치고 전공교육과 학업만족도 간에는 유의미한 결과를 도출하지 못하였다. 아울러 비교과프로그램 역시 교과교육과 학업만족도 간의 관계에서는 매개효과가 없는 것으로 나타났다.

영어초록

In light of the serious low birth rate and decreasing school-age population, many universities are actively attracting international students to survive in the competition. Recently, the Ministry of Education announced the 'Study Korea 300K Project' as a strategy to enhance the competitiveness of education for international students, aiming to attract 300,000 international students by 2027 and leap into the top 10 countries for international students worldwide.
To overcome the issue of regional extinction and the shortage of university admission resources, the government and universities have actively attracted foreign international students. Additionally, each university provides various programs and services to enhance the satisfaction of the university life of attracted international students. Through these efforts, minimizing the dropout of international students and creating an environment and conditions for them to adapt well to Korean life and settle in Korea after graduation become crucial challenges. As the life of international students naturally revolves around the school, examining factors related to academics and devising ways to improve academic satisfaction is important not only for the attraction and management of international students but also for research purposes. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate and research not only major education but also liberal education and non-curricular programs during the stay of international students at the university.
This study examined the impact of academic satisfaction, major education, liberal education, and non-curricular programs on the adaptation of international students at University C, aiming to provide insights into building an effective education system for foreign students. The results indicated that liberal education significantly influences academic satisfaction, while no significant relationship was found between major education and academic satisfaction. Additionally, there was no mediating effect of non-curricular programs on the relationship between academic education and satisfaction.
