삶과 학습의 선순환적 관계에서 나타나는 인문학습경험에 대한 생애사적 분석 (Focusing on life-history research on humanities learning experiences represented in the virtuous circle relationship of life and learning)

초록

본 연구는 인문학습 및 인문적 사유의 가치와 의미를 평생학습이라는 생생한 삶의 지평으로 끌어올리기 위해 수행되었다. 형식교육, 비형식교육, 무형식학습이라는 다양한 경로를 통해 인간경험과 직접적으로 소통하며 성장하는 인문학습의 총체적인 경험을 성장과 생애로 확장된 학습생애사 안에서 재구성하였다. 이를 위해 10년 이상 인문학을 학습해온 성인학습자 총 17명을 인터뷰하였다.
연구 결과 인문학습과정은 삶의 국면에서 자신에게 던져진 상황에 실존적으로 대처하는 과정이며, 삶의 위기상황에서 오히려 그 위력을 발휘할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 인문학습경험은 인문학 지식과 실존적 질문이 서로 넘나들고 연계하는 과정에서 삶과 지식이 선순환적 소통을 확장해가는 과정이라고 할 수 있다. 즉 인문학습은 삶의 문제들과 함께 살아가는 긴장과 대화의 과정, 그리고 그 과정을 극복하는 노정에서 발견되는 삶의 의미와 이해이며, 근본적인 의미에서의 자기철학적 토대가 된다. 학습자들에게 있어 삶이라는 구체와 복잡성으로부터 생명력을 부여받은 앎은 다시 이들의 삶으로 되먹임되고 있다. 이러한 점에서 본다면 인문교육은 철학이나 문학, 역사 등 인문학적 소재를 다루는 학습자체가 중요한 것이 아니라 그 학습을‘어떻게’해야 하는가의 문제로 귀결되며, 인문학 안에 내장된 경험구조를 실현해 낼 수 있는 학습과정을 결여한 교육이라면 그것은 또 하나의 지식학습에 불과하다는 것이다. 반대로 이 과정을 유의미하게 흡수할 경우 인문학습은 생애학습으로서 어떤 다른 과정보다도 인간의 삶을 변화시킬 수 있는 실질적인 역량으로 자리매김할 수 있다는 사실을 확인하였다.

영어초록

Recently, liberal education in humanities is being expanded in the context of adult education. From the liberal educations for'the homeless','women', and'the underprivileged'isolated from educational opportunities to those for CEOs in business world, recently the humanities lectures linked between universities and local residents are increasing. In short, current crisis and chances humanities education is facing are being expanded to the context of lifelong learning beyond school education. In this respect, this study is to show the nature of life in humanities learning growing in direct communication with human experiences from the viewpoint of lifelong learning in an attempt to expand the meaning of humanities learning has stayed only in school until now. For this purpose, by means of life-history I interviewed total 17 adult learners had studied humanities more than 10 years. I reorganized the whole experiences of humanities learning in expanded learning life-history of growth and life to examine what value and meanings they learn and re-structuralize their life through the various channels of humanities learning such as formal education, nonformal education, and informal learning shown in the whole context of life.
Findings on this study are as follows. The learner's humanities learning in their life stage is the expanding process of virtuous circle communication between life and knowledge in the process of covering and connecting between humanities knowledge and existential questions.
In this cycle, humanities learning gains the generation of meaning itself and the peculiarity of learning process. The whole personality experience in this process can be told as a humanities learning experience in the true sense of the word. In short, learning itself dealing with humanities subject matters such as philosophy, literature, and history is not important,but the problem is concluded in'how'they should learn. The humanities learning without learning process of realizing experiential structure inside humanities is no more than another knowledge learning. On the contrary, in case of absorbing this process meaningfully, the power of humanities learning turned out to be a powerful competency changing human life more than anything else as a learning through life.
