베이비 붐 세대의 은퇴 경험에 관한 해석학적 현상학 연구 (A hermeneutic phenomenology study on the retirement experience of the baby boom generation)

초록

본 연구는 우리나라 전체 인구의 14.6%를 차지하고 있는 최대 비율의 인구집단인 베이비 붐 세대들이 어떠한 은퇴경험을 겪고 있는지에 관해 한국 사회문화적 맥락에서 그들의 생활세계 경험을 탐색하고 그 경험의 의미와 본질을 심층적으로 이해하고자 하는데 목적이 있다. 베이비 붐 세대의 은퇴경험에 관한 의미와 본질을 이해하기 위해 살아있는 경험을 지향하며 그 경험의 의미를 포함하는 구조, 즉 현상의 본질을 밝혀 기술하는 것을 목적으로 하는 Van Manen의 해석학적 현상학 방법을 적용하였다. 또한 질적인 과학연구의 방법론적 정확성을 확보하기 위해 Lincoln과 Guba가 제시한 진실성, 적용성, 일관성, 중립성의 평가기준을 적용하여 질적연구를 통해 얻은 결과와 결과해석을 신뢰할 수 있는 엄격성을 확보하고자 노력하였다. 베이비붐 세대의 은퇴와 관련된 체험을 살아있는 것으로 상기시켜 의미를 파악하기 위해 본 연구에서 형성한 질문은 ‘베이비붐 세대의 은퇴와 관련된 체험의 본질은 무엇이며, 이러한 체험의 본질이 주는 의미는 무엇인가?’ 이다. 본 연구는 J도에 거주하는 베이비 붐 세대 남성 은퇴자 중 은퇴 후 2년 이내에 해당되는 연구 참여 동의자 7명을 대상으로 하였다. 2014년 4월부터 2015년 9월까지 약18개월간 1～2회기 비구조화 된 은퇴 경험을 심층 면접하여 얻은 결과는 다음과 같다.
베이비 붐 세대의 은퇴경험은, 연구결과 8개의 본질적 주제와 20개의 규명된 주제가 도출되었다. 본질적 주제는 ‘존재가 무너짐’, ‘울림 없는 절규’, ‘절망과 열망사이에 낌’, ‘돈을 지키는 허수아비’, ‘책임, 그 끝없는 굴레’, ‘관계의 재정립’, ‘일의 소중함을 작은 기대 속에 담아냄’, ‘일과 더불어 살아가기를 희망함’으로 나타났다. 이를 통해 베이비 붐 세대의 은퇴 경험은 ‘절망과 열망 사이에서 일이라는 토대 위에 존재감을 세움’으로 핵심 범주화 하였다. 베이비 붐 세대에게 일이란 곧 삶이고, 삶의 이정표이며 무엇보다 일을 토대로 자신의 존재를 세우고자 하는 것으로 드러났다. 이러한 연구 결과는 베이비 붐 세대에게 은퇴 전후의 삶에 필요한 실천적 방안과 상담의 기초자료로 활용될 수 있다.

영어초록

The purpose for this research is that investigate the baby boom generation’s life world experience in the sociocultural context and deeply understand the meaning and essence about what kind of retirement experience they who have the largest percentage 14.6 out of the entire national population have experienced. For the understanding the essence and meaning about the baby boom generation’s retirement experience, this research applied the analytical phenomenology method of Van Manen. Also to secure the methodological accuracy of qualitative science research I try to ensure the severity to trust the result and analysis obtained from qualitative research which applied appraisal standards Lincoln and Guba suggested, honesty, adaptability, consistency and neutrality. The question formed by this reserch is ‘what is the essence of experience associated with baby boom generation’s retirement and what is the meaning from such the essence of experience?‘ to figure out the meaning by remind as a living thing the baby boom generation’s retirement experience.
The subjects agreed this research are 7 men who have lived in J-Do and retired just in 2 years.
This study were performed during 18 months, from April, 2014 until September, 2015. One or two times depth interview and circulated analyses were adapted to explore retirement experience.
For this research, 7 baby boom generation male retirees were taken the depths interviews about their retirement experience and we find 8 essential themes and 20 investigated themes as the research result. The essential themes are ‘collapse of existence’, ‘the scream without vibration’, ‘trapped between despair and desire’, ‘scarecrow which guard the money’, ‘respon- sibility, the endless bond’, ‘reestablishment of the relationship’, ‘put the preciousness of work into the tiny expectation’, ‘hope to live together with the work’. So, the baby boom generations’ retirement experiences are essentially categorized as ‘build the existence on the basement called work between the despair and desire.’ To the baby boom generations, work is the life, signpost of the life and above all they build their own existence based on the work. This research can be used as the base data for the counselling and practical plans which is needed for the baby boom generations around their retirement.
