북속시기 베트남 영웅서사의 비교 연구 (A Comparative Study of Heroic Narratives in Vietnam During the Period of Chinese Dominationy)

초록

베트남 문학사에서 영웅이나 영웅서사는 주로 전설에 등장하며, 영웅서사는 사람들이 인종, 영토에 대한 생각을 가지기 시작한, 매우 이른 시기에 민간문학의 한 갈래인 신화에서 출현하였다. 또한 신화에서 전설로의 전환은 역사 속 영웅의 이미지를 선명하게 만들어서 영웅서사는 성찰과 역사적 해석의 기능과 관련이 있다고 하였다. 본고에서는 베트남의 영웅들 중 북속시기의 영웅으로 한정하여 연구하고자 하였다. 북속시기는 중국이 베트남을 통치하던 시기로 베트남 민족의 자주, 자존, 독립적 사고의 기반이 확립되어 이후 이어지는 외침의 역사에 그 민족정신이 계승되는 의미가 있는 시기로 그 역사적 의의가 크기 때문이다.
본고에서는 북속시기의 리남데로 불리는 리비, 세 번째에서 평민영웅으로 민중의 추앙을 받게 되는 마이툭로안과 중국의 지배를 완전히 종식시키고 베트남의 독립왕조 시대를 연 응오왕조의 태조 응오꾸옌을 선정하여 살펴보았다.
베트남 민족영웅의 면모에서는 첫째, 가족의 결합, 촌락의 결합, 사회의 결합, 국가의 결합으로 확장되는 베트남의 민족의식은 공동체를 중요하시는 사고로 여기에 외부에서 이주한 가문도 포함되어 단합, 단결을 이끌어낸다는 점에서 이주(移住)성을 포함함을 알 수 있었다.
둘째, 신의 예지와 신의 가호를 받아야만 하고 백성의 지혜와 도움을 받아야만 영웅이라도 외침에 대한 항거가 승리할 수 있다는 사고를 볼 때 신과 민중을 중요하시는 신성성, 민중성을 보인다고 할 수 있었다.
셋째, 평민도 백성을 도운 업적에 따라 영웅이 될 수 있으며, 독립왕조를 세운 후 언제나 전통왕조를 계승하고자 하는 점에서 베트남 민족 속에 내재한 전통성 보존에 대한 의식을 볼 수 있었다.
이러한 베트남 민족의 기층의식을 이해하고 발전시켜 나간다면 한국과 베트남에서 거주하고 있는 한–베, 베–한 다문화가정의 가족구성원을 이해할 뿐만 아니라 그들과 교류하고 소통하는데 기여할 수 있으리라 생각된다.

영어초록

Heroes or heroic narratives usually appear in legends in Vietnamese literary history. Heroic narratives appeared in the very early ages when people started having thoughts on race, land and in mythology, which is a branch of folk literature. In addition, the transition from mythology to legend made the image of the hero in history clearer, therefore heroic narratives are always related to introspection and the function of historical interpretation.
This paper conducted research limiting Vietnamese heroes to those during the period of Chinese domination. The period of Chinese domination is the period when China ruled over Vietnam, and it has an important historical significance as it is a meaningful period when the foundation of the self-ruling, self-reliant, and independent thinking of the Vietnamese people was established and that national spirit would be passed down in the history of foreign invasions that would follow.
In this paper, I aim to examine the following three heroes. Ly Bi, who was called Ly Nam Đe, and the hero Mai Thuc Loan, who received reverence from the people as a hero of the commoners, and Ngo Quyen, who completely ended Chinese rule and opened the period of independent dynasties in Vietnam as the founder of the Ngo dynasty.
The aspects of Vietnamese national heroes can be seen to show the following underpinning consciousness of the Vietnamese people.
First, the national spirit of Vietnam, which expands from the unity of the family, the village, and society, to unity in the nation, is the thought placing an importance on community. The fact that families that moved from outside the nation are included to encourage unity and solidarity shows a community spirit that accommodates the aspect of immigration.
Second, when considering the idea that a hero can succeed in resistance against foreign invasion only through the foresight and blessing of God, and through the wisdom and support of the people, one can see aspects of sacredness and of popular support which places an importance on God and the masses.
Third, one can see the practical spirit in the Vietnamese people in the fact that commoners can become heroes based on their achievements in helping the people, and in the commemoration of heroes who opted for their hometown as the center of resistance through the establishment of shrines in their hometown.
If we understand such underpinning consciousness of the Vietnamese people, it is possible not only to understand the family members of Korean-Vietnamese and Vietnamese-Korean multiracial families living in Korea and Vietnam, it can also contribute to developing the bilateral relations through better communication.
