재정착 난민 아동의 학교 부적응에 관한 학부모의 인식 (Parents' perceptions of school maladjustment of resettled refugee children)

초록

본 연구의 목적은 한국 재정착 난민 아동 학부모를 대상으로 한 인터뷰를 통해서 재정착 난민 아동 학부모가경험한 재정착 난민 아동의 학교 부적응의 원인과 현상을 알아보는 것이다. 이를 위해 한국 재정착 난민 아동 학부모를대상으로 질적 사례 연구를 실시했다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 재정착 난민 아동의 학부모는 첫째, 재정착 난민아동의 미숙한 한국어 실력을 자녀가 교과 과정을 이해하지 못하는 가장 큰 원인으로 보았고 자녀의 학습 의욕상실을 가져온다고 생각했다. 둘째, 재정착 난민 아동의 대부분은 출신국에서 공교육에 참여한 경험이 없어서 한국학교에 입학한 후에도 학교 규칙을 이해하고 학교생활에 적응하는데 많은 시간과 연습이 필요하다고 했다. 셋째, 사교육 참여가 어려운 경제 사정으로 자녀의 부족한 학습에 대한 마땅한 해결책을 찾지 못하고 있으며 자녀의 낮은학업 성과는 점차 자녀가 학교 교육에서 멀어지게 하는 것으로 생각했다. 넷째, 자녀들의 불완전한 한국어 의사소통능력과 문화차이로 다양한 한국 친구들과 학교생활을 하는 것에 어려움을 겪고 있다고 생각했다. 마지막으로 재정착난민 아동 학부모의 학교 교육 경험 부재와 미숙한 한국어 실력은 학교 담당자와 소통하고 재정착 난민 자녀의학교생활을 파악하는 것을 어렵게 했고 가정에서 적극적인 관심과 지지를 제공하지 못하여 자녀의 학습 동기 부여에도움을 주지 못한다고 생각했다. 본 연구 결과를 통해 한국 재정착 난민 아동의 학교 부적응 현상을 이해하고 학교적응을 돕기 위한 방안으로 재정착 난민 학부모와 재정착 난민 아동이 함께 참여하는 학교생활 적응 교육, 또래난민 아동의 한국 친구들과 대학생 멘토가 참여하는 소통 프로그램, 교과 보충 수업 및 난민 아동 각자의 개성과장점을 진로로 연계할 수 있는 맞춤형 적성 개발 진로 지원 프로그램 개발과 지속적인 운영이 필요하다는 것을제시한다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study is to find out the causes and phenomena of school maladjustment of resettled refugee children experienced by parents of resettled refugee children through interviews with parents of resettled refugee children in Korea. To this end, a qualitative case study was conducted targeting parents of resettled refugee children in Korea. The results of the study are as follows. Parents of resettled refugee children first thought that the resettled refugee child's poor Korean language skills were the biggest reason for their children's inability to understand the curriculum and that it caused their children to lose their will to learn. Second, most of the resettled refugee children said that they needed a lot of time and practice to understand school rules and adapt to school life even after entering school in Korea because they had no experience of participating in public education in their country of origin. Third, due to economic circumstances where participation in private education is difficult, they are unable to find a suitable solution for their children's lack of learning, and they expect that their children will gradually move away from school education. Fourth, it was assumed that children's incomplete Korean communication skills and cultural differences would make it difficult for their children to have a school life with various Korean friends. Lastly, parents' lack of school education experience and poor Korean language skills made it difficult to communicate with school officials and understand their children's school life, and did not provide active parental interest and support at home, which did not help motivate their children to learn. Through the results of this study, it is suggested that as a way to understand the phenomenon of school maladjustment of refugee children resettled in Korea and to help them adapt to school, it is necessary to develop and continuously operate education for adapting to school life in which parents of resettled refugees and resettled refugee children participate, communication programs in which Korean friends and college student mentors of refugee children participate, supplementary classes, and customized aptitude development career support programs that can link the individuality and strengths of each refugee child to their career paths
