『주역』의 神字의 용례를 통해 본 神의 함의 (The Implication of Divinity through the Examples of God in the Book of Changes)

초록

『주역』은 도를 음양의 작용으로 신을 음양으로 헤아릴 수 없는 것이라 정의하고 있다. 신은 만물이 묘합되어 있음을 말로 표현한 것이라 하고, 신묘함으로써 덕을 밝히고 그 덕을 백성들이 모두 사용한다고 하였다. 신은 음양이 묘합되어 있는 형이상의 존재로 도덕적이며 형이상‧하를 아우르는 개념이다.
건곤책수와 역을 통해 신을 도울 수 있다고 하고, 기미를 아는 것이 신이라고 하였다. 신이 책수를 통해 표상되었음은 곧 신이 시간과 변화를 주재하는 주재적 존재임을 알 수 있다.
신도는 천지신도라 하여 하늘의 속성으로 보고 있다. 사시가 틀리지 않는다고 하고, 신도로 가르치니 천하가 복종한다고 한 것으로 보아 형이하까지 아우르는 시간성의 원리적 개념임을 알 수 있다.
신덕행은 덕행을 신스럽게 한다는 것으로 덕행이 바로 신과 소통할 수 있는 근거가 되며, 신과 통할 수 있는 방법이 된다. 따라서 신스럽다(신묘하다)는 것은 신의 인격성·도덕성을 깨닫고 실천한다는 의미이다.
신화는 즉 신묘하고(신스럽고) 조화롭게 한다는 것은 신의 의지·도덕성에 순응하여 신을 궁구함으로써 신을 닮아가는 것이 덕을 키워 신을 돕는 것이다.
신명에서의 신은 신스러움으로써 덕을 밝힌다고 하고, 신스럽게(신묘하게) 하여 밝힘은 사람에 있고 묵묵히 이루게 하여 말하지 않아도 믿음은 덕행에 있다고 한 것으로 보아 신스러움은 신의 도덕성인 덕이 드러나는 모습이다.
신물은 천지의 도를 밝히고 백성의 연고를 살펴서 신물을 일으켰다고 하여, 신의 도덕성을 드러내는 표상체계가 신물임을 알 수 있다.
귀신은 길흉과 합하여 하나가 되는 존재이다. 삼재지도와 함께 언급하고, 혼이 변함이 된다고 하며, 천지지수가 변화를 이루고 귀신을 행한다고 하였다. 따라서 귀신은 떠돌아다니는 인격성(혼)을 가진 존재이며, 형이상적인 존재이며, 길흉을 판단하는 존재 즉, 돌아간 선성인의 인격성임을 알 수 있다.

영어초록

In the Book of Changes, Tao is defined as the function of yin and yang and God is defined as what cannot be measured using yin and yang. It says that God is the description in words that all things are mystically harmonized, virtues are enlightened by means of the mysticalness and all the people put the virtues to good use. It is the concept which embraces both metaphysics and physical science as well as the metaphysical existence harmonized with yin and yang.
It also says that you could support God by means of Qiankunceshu(Heavenly and earthly calendrical numbers) and i-ching and God knows the signs. You could understand God was represented as Ceshu, that is to say, God is the presiding existence ruling over time and change.
Tao of God, namely, Tao of Heavenly God, can be seen as the qualities of Heaven. Seeing that four seasons are calculated correctly and the world obeys willingly when he saint enlightens people using Tao of God, it must be the fundamental concept of quality of time covering physics science.
Practice of divine virtues means that you practice virtues divinely, so the practice of virtues is the very basis leading to the communication with God and the way to approach God. Thus to be divine, to be mystical, means that you realize and practice the quality of the personality and morality of God.
Divine change means being mystical and harmonious. Resembling God by complying with the will of God, the morality and mastering it is supporting God by cultivating virtues.
Seeing that God in the Brightness of God enlightens virtues with divinity, enlightening mystically is placed upon humans and the faith is on the virtues even though it is unsaid and completed silently, divinity is the presentation of virtues, the quality of personality of God.
As for divine things, it is said that God enlightened the Tao of Heaven and Earth and created divine things by examining the relations of people. Thus divine things are the representation system revealing the morality of God.
The spirit is the existence becoming one by combining fortune with misfortune. It was mentioned with Tao of Three Elements. Also, it was said that spirits can be changed and Cheonjijisu(Heavenly and Earthly Numbers) make changes and control spirits. Therefore, we could comprehend the spirit is the existence wandering about that has a personality(soul), the metaphysical being and the one judging fortune and misfortune, in other words, the deceased previous saint.
