Landscapes Resource Characteristic Analysis of Mt. Daedun, Wanju, Based on Designation Criteria of ‘Scenic Site’

초록

This study examines meanings and value of Mt. Daedun(大芚山), which called as ‘Mt. Geumgang in Honam,’ from the point of a scenic site, national cultural property. Followings are the natural and cultural value of Mt. Daedun as a scenic site identifed based on enforcement ordinance number 11 of Cultural Property Protection Law: 1. Mt. Daedun’s resources for Scenic Sites are filled five criteria of all six criteria. Especially, balanced particular two landscapes between nature and culture, such as Geumgang overpass and Samseon pass are remarkable.
2. Strange rocks, such as Mawang Gate, Sinsun Rocks, Nubjeok Rocks, Janggun Peak, Namgeun Rocks, and peaks and cliffes, such as Chilsung Peak and Geumgang Peak are filled the criteria number one ‘mountains with excellent natural landscapes,’ and the criteria number four ‘famous mountains with excellent historical and cultural value.’ 3. Baeti Hill, Taego Temple, and Nakjo Terrace in Choongcheongnam-do side are the important viewpoints to see Mt. Daedun’s strange rocks and cliffs. Those needs to develop as places for experiencing major viewpoints of Mt. Daedun. And, it needs to develop the connecting programs between tourism and local cultural heritage, including Ansim Temple, Taego Temple, and Seokchoen Temple.
Until today, historical and cultural elements of Mt. Daedun seem scanty, thus, it needs to investigate and develop more references as a future research. In addtion, for securing integrity and authenticity of resources of scenic sites, adopting integrated investigation and setting up management areas and plans together with Geumsan-gun and Nonsan-si.
