고려시대 관료들의 교유목적과 수단－李奎報를 중심으로－ (A Study on Association Purpose and Method of Goryeo Officials－focusing on Yi Gyubo(李奎報))

초록

The purpose of this paper is to find out how the Goryeo officials associated with each other and why they tried to keep the association actively and continuously by analyzing the companionship and association method of Yi Gyubo.
Through education, national exam(Gwageo), official life and marriage, Yi made close relationship with school friends, Juaju(Gwageo examiner), students, peers and colleagues as well as parents, wife’s family and sons. Among his acquaintances, some of school friends and peers became his colleagues, and some students became his son-in-law. In this way, many of them had crossing relations with Yi.
When Yi Gyubo was associated with diverse people, especially with officials, he mainly used the way of poetry and wine. The poetry and the wine were the media used most frequently by officials and official-pursuers in Goryeo Age. Especially, for the officials, the poetry was not only the means of association but also that of communication, promoting the political public opinions, the mutual encouragement and the incitation. Thus, it was very important in creating, maintaining and expanding the human relations among Goryeo officials.
In Goryeo Age when the literature was highly honored, it was an important quality of officials to compose good sentences. To become a good official or to be reputed as such, the officials had to develop their quality every day. It should be continued not only in official activity but also in daily life. Therefore, they made and kept the association with each other by way of literary activities so as to enhance their quality as officials and prove their quality as the official, realizing the ideal image of official.
On the other hand, many people became officials and got promoted with others’ recommendation in Goryeo Age. In that recommendation system, the recommender had to know the recommendee well. The association was the process to be acquainted with others. In the Goryeo society under the recommendation system, the association was indispensable as the process for officials to know other officials or official-pursuers. Furthermore, in a society that the official-holding was a greatly important factor to determine the ruling status layer, it was quite natural for the ruling layer to strive to acquire the official positions and then the higher positions. Therefore, the association was an important activity for Goryeo officials to know each other and to determine the entrance and promotion of government posts. In this respect, the construction of human infra through diverse network was a natural task for Goryeo officials that the ruling layer should have pursued in their daily life.
