명대 甁花⋅盆景圖 : 강남 문사들의 자기표현과 취향 (Píng Huā⋅Pén Jǐng Paintings of Ming Dynasty: Self Expressions and Taste of the Literati in Jiangnan)

초록

이 논문은 장식과 길상을 목적으로 하던 甁花⋅盆景圖가 吳派를 기점으로 문인들의 자기표현과 문화적 행위를 드러내는 장르로 부각되는 점에 초점을 두고 논의를 전개한 것이다. 명대 강남 화단의 병화⋅분경도는 문인들의 화훼애호풍조의 일환인 병화⋅분경을 완상하는 문화와 관련되어 논의되어 왔다. 그러나 각각의 작품이 제작된 맥락, 작품 자체에 대한 분석과 조명이 충분히 이루어지지 못했으며, 문인취향의 감상용 회화로서의 의미와 성격이 제대로 규명되지 못했다. 필자는 병화⋅분경도가 문인들의 心懷를 기탁하고 취향을 드러내는 방편으로 기능한 문인 화훼화로서의 면모를 고찰하고자 한다.
오파 화가들은 문인들의 우아한 생활공간을 꾸미는 장식물과 완상물로서 병화와 분경을 표현했으며, 창작자의 心懷와 시적 흥취, 회화관을 드러내고 문학의 텍스트를 도해하는 시각 장치로서 병화⋅분경도를 그렸다. 詩書畵가 어우러진 화축 형식이 주를 이루었고, 화면의 1/3 이상을 차지하는 畵題는 개성적인 서체와 어우러져 작품의 중요한 구성 요소로 작용했다. 명대 말기에는 창작자와 향유층의 범위가 확대되어 자기표현의 방편이자 불특정한 회화수요자를 위한 상품으로 유통되었으며, 長卷의 두루마리와 화첩 형식이 많아졌다. 또한 호사풍조와 탐미적인 완상문화를 보여주었으며, 병화⋅분경의 물질성과 시각효과가 중시되었다.

영어초록

This thesis develops its discussion by focusing on the point where the Píng Huā⋅Pén Jǐng paintings of Ming dynasty that used to function mostly as decorative and auspicious art work, turns into the self-expressing, and culturally revealing genre since the appearance of the Wu School. The Píng Huā⋅Pén Jǐng paintings in the art scene of Jiangnan, Ming dynasty has always been discussed related to the Píng Huā⋅Pén Jǐng enjoying culture which was one of the various aspects of the floricultural trend of the era. However, not only the contextual production history and the analysis of each art work, but also the meaning and character of it as the art work appreciated by the literary artists of the time have not been sufficiently spotlighted and studied. Thus, I would like to contemplate on its function as the still-life painting for the literary artists of the time, which has worked as an emotional shelter and an device to express the taste for the literary men of the era.
The artists of the Wu school expressed the flower vase and bonsai as appreciation object or things to decorate elegant living space in the paintings. Simultaneously they drew it as the explanatory diagram to express the painter’s emotions, poetic vibes, and point of views about painting as well as to interpret a literary text. Therefore this art trend has mainly developed in the form of vertical scrolls which is comprised of poetry and painting together, and the writing part which was more than one thirds of the scroll had to work as the important explanatory diagram for the poem with unique calligraphy. At the end of the Ming dynasty, it has become one of the market products with both the extended painters and consumers, and trending forms have turned into longer scrolls or picture books. In addition, it has shown the extravagant and esthetic appreciation culture, the materialism and visual effect for the vase and bonsai as well.
