초록

이 글은 자기소개서 항목의 목적과 기술돼야 하는 내용을 살펴본 연구이다. 이 연구는 갖추어야 할 요건을 최소화시킨 작성법 제시를 통해 대학생들의 자기소개서 작성 원칙을 이해하고, 유용한 자기소개서의 자유로운 작성이 가능하도록 하는 것에 중점을 두었다.
자기소개서는 입사 후 포부를 중심으로 하는 논설문이다. 지원 동기 및 입사 후 포부가 주장, 나머지 항목들이 그 근거가 되는 항목에 해당한다. ‘지원 동기’는 포부(해결책)를 실현하기 위한 문제점 인식의 계기, ‘포부’는 해당 분야에서 이루고픈 목표(해결책)를 주 내용으로 한다. 이때의 목표란 크게 ‘변화, 개선, 발전, 극복’ 등의 성격을 띠며, ‘자신의 꿈을 이루기 위해 반드시 실천해야 할 것’이라는 전제를 갖는다.
지원 동기와 입사 후 포부는 ‘직업은 자아실현의 도구’라는 인식을 통해 바르게 작성될 수 있다. 이때 직업 탐색은 자신의 포부와 기업 간의 관계, 그리고 그것의 실천 가능성을 근거로 당사 지원의 필연성을 이해시키기 위해 행하는 것이다. 그리고 지원자가 기업에게 ‘인재’인지의 문제는 바로 이러한 필연성과 포부의 실현 가능성 의해 증명된다.
성장 과정은 자신의 진로 및 내‧외적 자질의 형성과정을 육하원칙이 드러나도록 작성하는 항목이다. 해당 분야에 관심을 갖게 된 계기를 납득시키는 것을 목적으로 하며, 이 납득 정도에 의해 지원동기 및 포부 형성의 필연성이 결정된다. 진로 형성 과정은 가정이나 학교생활 등을 통해 ‘내가 좋아하는 요소’가 형성된 과정을 보여주는 것을 기본 내용으로 한다. 그리고 내‧외적 자질은 성격을 포함한, 해당 분야의 포부를 실현하기에 유용하다고 전제된 것이어야 한다.
성격이나 취미, 특기, 경험 등 ‘지원자의 ○○’를 묻는 항목의 목적은 지원자의 내‧외적 자질을 살펴보기 위한 것이다. 기본적인 기술의 틀은 ‘목적-행위-느낀 점’이며, 이를 통해 해당 분야의 포부를 이루기 위한 노력과 그 결과를 보여주는 것을 목적으로 한다. 특히 ‘느낀 점’을 감상문의 그것과 같은 요령으로 기술함으로써 지원자가 해당 분야의 포부를 이루기 위해 필요한 자질을 ‘내재화’하였다는 것을 보여주고, ‘포부’를 실현하는 것이 충분히 가능함을 증명하는 것이 가장 중요하다.

영어초록

This paper is a study on the purpose of items and contents that should be described in cover letters. This study focused on helping college students understand the principles of writing a cover letter and also making them freely write a useful cover letter by suggesting the writing method minimizing its requirements.
Cover letter is a persuasive essay focusing on the aspiration after entering company. The motivation for application and aspiration after entering company are the argument while the rest items belong to its grounds. The ‘motivation for application' mainly includes the opportunity to aware the problem to realize the aspiration(solution) while the 'aspiration' mainly contains the goal(solution) desired in the relevant area. In this case, the goal is largely like 'change, improvement, development, and overcome', which is a 'premise that should be practiced to achieve the dream'.
The 'motivation for application and aspiration after entering company' could be correctly written through the awareness that 'occupation is a tool for self-realization'. At this time, the job search is conducted to persuade the necessity of the relevant company's support based on the relation between the aspiration and company, and the possibility of its practice. Whether the applicant is the 'talent' to the company or not is proved by this necessity and the possibility of practicing the aspiration.
The childhood is an item showing the process of forming the career and internal/external qualifications based on five Ws and one H. It is to convince of the opportunity to have interest in the relevant area, and depending on its degree, the necessity of the motivation for application and formation of aspiration is decided. The career forming process basically shows the process of forming 'elements I like' through family or school life. The internal/external qualifications should be something useful to realize the aspiration in the relevant area, including personality.
The purpose of items asking 'applicant's OO' such as personality, hobby, specialty, and experience is to see his/her internal/external qualifications. The basic frame of description is 'purpose-act-feelings’, which is to show the efforts to achieve the aspiration in the relevant area, and its results. Especially, by describing 'feelings' just like ones in reports, it would be the most important to show that the applicant's qualifications essential to achieve the aspiration have been 'internalized', and also to prove that it would be fully possible to realize the 'aspiration'.
