미디어 아트 창작에 대한 범위설정 문제 연구 (Research on Scope Setting Issue of Media Art Creation)

초록

본 연구의 목적은 현대 “미디어 아트 창작물”이라는 대상 자체를 예술과 과학 분야 사이에 상호보완관계로 설명하고 새로운 관점에 예술 비평의 기반을 마련하는 것이다. 지금까지 전통 예술 분야는 특수한 사고의 영역이 강조되어 예술가와 예술작품이 일원화되는 경향을 보였다. 그러나 현대에 이르러 “미디어아트(media art)”는 미술사나 미디어연구에서 아직도 다양한 시각에서 논쟁을 지속하고 있다. 현대에 다매체를 활용한 각종 예술 영역은 '학문간 융합' 또는 '상호 학문간 연구'라는 교환을 통해서 제도적 간격을 와해하고 있는 것이다. 2장에서는 미디어 기술과 미디어 예술 사이에 제도적 간격의 개념과 의미의 구분을 통해 예술과 과학의 교환 현상과 두 분야의 착종 양상을 설명한다. 다양한 착종 형태의 현대 미디어 아트는 예술가의 사고 영역과 기술자의 표현 기술들로 만들어진다. 3장은 기술과 예술이 착종된 창작물과 창작형태의 의미를 분석하고 현대 예술의 일반론으로 설명한다. 미디어 아트의 창작물은 작품의 탄생과정에서 예술가와 기술자 사이에 협업과정 중 누구나 작품 창작에 영향을 끼칠 수 있다. 과학과 예술의 상보적 관계를 다양한 유형의 과학적 연구들과 예술적 실험들을 통하여 두 문화의 통섭을 설명하고 기존 연구 영역의 한계를 벗어나고자 하는 것이다. 이로써 본 논문은 현재 미디어 시대의 ‘예술(art)’에 대한 논의를 확장하고자 한다.

영어초록

The purpose of this research is making the base for new perspectives on art criticism. Contemporary media arts creates between arts and sciences what are described as a complementary relationship. But the modern world is " art media (media art)" and still continue to debate various perspectives in art history and media studies. Up to now, special emphasis thinking has been being in the area of traditional arts. The tendency is also the artists and artworks unification. However, contemporary art area to utilize multimedia has collapsed the institutional gap through the exchange of "interdisciplinary fusion" or "mutual-interlaboratory research". In the Chapter 2 is the description of exchange between the arts and the sciences based on phenomena aspect of entangling. Distinction between the concept and the mean of institutional separation between media technologies and media arts. Contemporary media art in a variety of entangling form is interpreted as a variety of factors, specific think of artists or technicians on the technique of expression and then communicate to audiences. The scope depends on point of view of the active creator of interpreting the creative works. It is possible to express the possibility of debris between artists and technicians. Chapter 3 is the analysis of technologies and arts entangling with the creations and meaning of creative forms. That is to explain the generalities of contemporary art. Creations of media arts influent (to) the creative works of all, artists and technicians in the collaboration process in the birth of the work. In conclusion, contemporary art has a distinctiveness of structural similarity of arts and sciences. This similarity emphasizes that the reductive interpretation that does meaningless. Various types of complementary relationships between sciences and arts describe the consilience of two cultures through scientific researches and artistic experimentations and beyond the limitations of the existing research areas. Thus this paper is to expand the discussion of the "art (art) ' of the media age .
